Use Your Scraps #1 (New series)

Welcome to a new series called

USE YOUR SCRAPS

This series will encourage you to use up your itty bitty scrap card stock or designer paper left over from previous projects.

Most of my scrap card stock are strips about 1/2" wide from when I cut my quarter panels out of full sheets. I admit when I have too many of these in my scrap pile, I toss them. I surely do not use them to their full potential. They are mostly used on the inside of a card. But I am certain we can create masterpieces with them as well. Hence the start of this series. My goal for this new series is to post a new project at least once a month but it may be more often as the series comes to life.

Let's get started!

I was having so much fun making the strip panels that I decided to create a card set. I chose the colours from the You Are Amazing Project Kit (155370) in the Mini JJ2021 Catalogue: Bermuda Bay, Pretty Peacock, Flirty Flamingo, Granny Apple Green, and added some Gold Foil strips as well.

For all cards, I used the following and then decorated each with a different sentiment.
  • Thick Basic White card stock (8 1/2" x5 1/2")
  • Basic White panel (4 7/8" x 3 5/8") mounted on a colour panel (5" x 3 3/4")
  • Scrap Strips of various colours (3 5/8" x 1/2')
  • Basic White focal panel (4" x 2 7/8") with a butterfly cut out.
Now for a close up of each card.

For this card, the matte is Pretty Peacock as is the HAPPY which is from the Playful Alphabet Dies. I used the Well Said stamp set stamped with Pretty Peacock ink. Added a little bling with the Frosted and Clear Epoxy Droplets.

For this card, the matte is Bermuda Bay as is the SYMPATHY which is from the Well Written Dies. I used the Well Said stamp set stamped with Bermuda Bay ink. Added a little wow with Pearl Basic Jewels.

For this card, the matte is Granny Apple Green as is the YOU which is from the Playful Alphabet Dies. I used the Well Said stamp set again stamped with Granny Apple Green ink. Added a little bling with some Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

For this card, the matte is a Gold Foil panel as is the CONGRATS which is a retired die. I used the Well Said stamp set stamped in Pretty Peacock ink. Added a little bling with some Gilded Gems.

For this card, the matte is Flirty Flamingo as is the THANK YOU which a retired die. I used the retired Another Thank You stamp set stamped with Flirty Flamingo ink. Added a little bling with the Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

I have not completed the inside or the envelopes yet to this card set but I'll be in the near future so that I can gift these to a friend.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #548 - All Occasions

Welcome to Thursday! And a brand new challenge over on the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog: ALL OCCASIONS. A few weeks ago, sadly a friend needed a sympathy card. These are some of the hardest cards to prepare.

KRAFTY CHICKS CHALLENGE #548

Sale-A-Bration 2021 has a stamp set called Heal Your Heart (155291) that has condolence type messages. I stamped one message with Shaded Spruce ink (147088) randomly on the Shaded Spruce card base (146981) and again on Mint Macaron card stock (138337), then punched it out using the 2" Circle Punch (133782). Next I used the Waterfront Stamp set (146386) to create a scene. Used Balmy Blue ink (147105) for the speckles in the sky, Highland Heather (147103) for the mountains, Mint Macaron (147106) for the grassy area, and Shaded Spruce (147088) for the trees. I also liked the birds from the High Tide stamp set (143006), stamped them in Balmy Blue (147105). I did have a few attempts to create a this beautiful scene. And a few more attempts at creating the right angle with the Stitched Rectangle Dies (151820). But it was worth the struggle to get it just right.

Then I created a similar scene for the inside of the card and the envelope.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #547 - CAS

Happy Thursday! It's Krafty Chicks Challenge day. This week is CAS, Clean and Simple. Since last week was extremely cold here in Central Alberta, well most of Alberta, I spent a bit of time in my craft space. Here is one of my makes.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #547

You can get this beautiful hummingbird for FREE when your order qualifies for a Level 2 Sale-A-Bration (SAB) item. This was my first time using the Touch of Ink stamp set (155233) but it definitely won't be my last. I'm just sad though that SAB is over on February 28, 2021.

Here are the card details.

  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White (159229), Mango Melody (146989), Gorgeous Grape (146987), Coastal Cabana (131297)
  • Ink pads: Memento Tuxedo Black (132708), Mango Melody (147093), Gorgeous Grape (147099), Coastal Cabana (147097), Mossy Meadow (147111)
  • Accessories: Dimensional (104430)

How simple is this to "decorate" the inside and envelope?? More simple stamping. Luckily this is two-step stamping where there's a lined image and then a filler stamp, so one doesn't need to colour.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge blog to see what the other Hens have for inspiration. And now it's your turn! Let's see what you've created in your craft space lately.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #546 : Christmas

Good morning and welcome back to my blog. It's Thursday, so there's a new challenge starting today over on the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #546: CHRISTMAS

I made this card while crafting with friends in a private room on my Facebook Group. We have not been able to gather here in Alberta (and almost everywhere in the country), and it was nice to see my gal pals, craft together, and chit chat.

I played along with a Bingo type challenge, where you pick a line and you create your card using what is asked for in the squares. I was able to use all nine squares:

Something Shiny: Forever Gold Laser Cut Specialty Paper (152493)

Neutrals: Crumb Cake card stock (120953)

Ribbon: Retired Mossy Meadow twine

Sponging:  Sponge Daubers (133773) using Crumb Cake ink (147116)

FREE SPACE

Embossing: White Embossing Powder (109132), heat tool (129053) in VersaMark (102283)

Circles: Stitched Shapes (152323), Layering Circles (151770)

Die Cut: Retired Sounds of The Season Dies, Stampin Cut & Emboss (149653), Gold Foil Sheets (132622)

Brights: Real Red card stock (102482) even though it is considered a Regal colour according to Stampin Up!, I still consider it bright.

I had a few scraps of the Retired (but returning in the next Annual Catalogue) Heartwarming Hugs DSP laying around so of course it should be used to decorate the inside of the card and the envelope. Sentiment on the card and jingle bell image are from the Retired Cherish The Season stamp set.

I hope you like my card this week. Do not forget to stop on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog to see what the other amazing Chicks have created for you. And then join in, upload your project so we can see what is happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #545 - Stamp Act

Good morning my crafty friends! So it's Thursday and I'm back with another Krafty Chicks Challenge card. Stamp Act, where you need at least one thing stamped on your creation.

While scrolling through my FaceBook news feed last week, I stumbled across a similar gem created by Jo-anne Rogers. She is a talented Stampin' Up! demonstrator from Blackfalds, AB (my neck of the woods). This is the link to her blog post on Design With Jo.

Her card is similar to the one on the right. I just went on a creative spree with this layout and separate components. Starting with the Rainbow Glimmer Paper (153056) cut to 5.25x4 backed it with Adhesive Sheet (152334) and running through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (149653) with the Detailed Heart Die (151440). I repeated this process with Coastal Cabana card stock (131297) and Basic White card stock (159276). I used Press 'N Seal to keep all the bits together and carefully started peeling off the background on the Rainbow  Glimmer Paper and Coastal Cabana card stock and adhered it to the Thick Basic White (159229) card base. For the Basic White panel, I peeled the outline only and adhered that to a Coastal Cabana card base.

Then I thought the Press 'N Seal would be my friend and make an easy job of pasting all the hearts into place in one step. As I was peeling off the backing to the Adhesive Sheet, the hearts were sticking to my fingers. I tried using a piercing tool/tweezers combo, that worked better but still a slow process. Eventually I plugged in all the itty bitty hearts into place, not necessarily in their rightful place but it got filled!

To finish off the card, stamped the Valentine heart from the Heartfelt stamp set (151417) in Rich Razzleberry ink (147092) and punched it out, along with a scalloped heart in Rich Razzleberry card stock  (133675) using the Heart Punch Pack (151292). Popped that up on Dimensionals (104430) and called it done.

No card is complete without finishing the inside and the envelope. What's a few more hearts!!!

Don't forget to stop on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog to get more inspirations from the other Chicks. And please upload your project so that we can see what's going on in your craft space.
