Krafty Chicks Challenge #617: All Occasions

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you! But it's Friday and I'm late again.

Welcome to another great challenge week from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. All Occasions is the theme, so pretty much anything goes. Here's my card:

The next retired stamp set for Throwback Thursday (posted Friday) is perfect for All Occasions week: Baby theme. Here I followed along the CAS Colours And Sketches Challenge and Tawny Owl Paperie |Inky Inspiration Facebook group for the sketch.

Love this simple layout. And happy I got to play with the new In Colors 2022-2024 again. They are nice and bright and perfect for a non-traditional baby card.

Supplies I used:

  • Celebrate Baby stamp set: retired
  • Well Said stamp set: retired
  • Thick White card stock: 159229
  • Tahitian Tide card stock: 159261
  • Parakeet Party card stock: 159259
  • Sweet Sorbet card stock: 159268
  • Sweet Sorbet ink pad: 159216
  • Tahitain Tide ink pad: 159210
  • Parakeet Party ink pad: 159208
  • Poppy Parade Stampin'Write marker: 147157
  • Stampin' Dimensionals: 104430

I kept the inside of the card and the envelope CAS, quick and simple. For the flap of the envelope, I used masking tape on the image to remove the top of the mobile. Stamp in ink, remove the masking tape, stamp on card stock. Repeat.

So now head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for All Occasions week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #616: CAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Are you ready for this week's challenge? I'm the hostess and we are looking for CAS, as in Clean And Simple. Here's my card:

I created this card for my eldest grandson as invitations to his birthday party in July. I had to make 5 of them so I wanted something fairly simple, hardest part was the fussy cutting. I let the New Horizon's DSP give the outer space feel. Then traced the astronaut with a Micron pen (he was just too "flat" without the oultine). The planet was created using the "rock & roll" technique; you stamp solid image in base colour, then roll the stamps edges in a different colour.

As I am in a rush this week to create these invites and another set of invites for the youngest grandson also, I didn't take pic of the supplies I use. Life is a tad busy with the Grand Opening of the other pizza shop, gardening, housework, family, crafting and  resting. I keep saying one more week and life as I knew it will go back to normal but there's still yet another week.

Supplies I used: (links to follow)

  • Blast Off stamp set: retired
  • Make a Wish stamp set: retired
  • Thick Basic White card stock: 159229
  • Daffodil Delight card stock: 119683
  • Basic Black card stock: 121045
  • New Horizon's DSP: 157768 (retiring soon)
  • Smokey Slate ink pad: 147113
  • Sahara Sand ink pad: 147117
  • Rich Razzleberry ink pad: 147091
  • Natural Tones Stampin' Blends, Medium Light: 159463
  • VersaMark ink pad: 102283
  • Heat Tool: 129053
  • White Embossing powder: 155554
  • Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine: 149653
  • Stitched Stars dies: retired
  • Paper Snip Scissors: 103579
  • 1 1/4" circle punch: retired
  • Sponge daubers: 133733
  • Stampin' Dimensionals: 104430

I didn't need an envelope this time since Kenley will be hand-delivering these invites to his school friends. And I kept the inside CAS as well.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #615: Christmas

Yeah, it's Thursday! Time for another great challenge from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. Let's put the spotlight on Christmas this week!

This card came together so quickly and beautifully, it was practically no work at all. Once I picked the stamp set, got the sketch and a colour scheme, it all fell into place. Don't you love that! Well I do, especially when I was under the wire again. I do see the light at the end of the tunnel! Just one more week, I keep telling myself.

This is also another Throwback Thursday card using a retired stamp set. Another feature of this card I love: it uses minimal product. I could have gotten away without using the Blending Brush and Pacific Point ink pad, the card would still be great. I could also add a little of bling-bling and I might still do that to put this simple card over the top.

Supplies I used:

Now for the inside of the card, I wanted a light star in the middle and I guess my ink pad is too juicy. This was a third generation image, meaning I stamped on a scratch paper twice before stamping it on my card. It should have been much lighter but it'll work. I can still write my message.

It's so simple to finish off the inside of your card and envelope. Stamp, card stock (or DSP) and you have a beautiful coordinating project that would put a smile on anyone's face.

I'm also playing along with Freshly Made Sketches #539 and TGIF Challenges #371.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for Christmas week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #614: Stamp Act

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Welcome June, I'm so glad to see you. Summer is just around the corner, we can feel it during the day. We've still have some frosty mornings though so I'm holding off on some garden plants like green bean, tomatoes and cucumbers. But pretty much everything else is in, just waiting for them to sprout out and say hello.

Onto my card for this week's Krafty Chicks Challenge : Stamp Act. As long as something is stamped, be it an image or a sentiment, it qualifies for the Stamp Act challenge.

I'm late again this week posting and I apologize. I haven't been posting on Facebook much either. With the opening of another pizzeria (we don't own it but we have been helping out a lot), the travel time to and fro, I just need a couple of days to catch my breath.

You may not recognize this stamp set. It was a Hostess set for the last Sale-A-Bration event, tucked away in the back of the flyer, called Calming Camellia. I got it kind of last minute of the sale so it wasn't even inked up yet. I decided on a watercolour look and did a wash in the background.

To create the background, I stamped my ink pad on my glass mat. You can use a silicone mat or even a window sheet. Then spritzed it with a bit of water. I took another bit of window sheet and rolled the center while holding the edges up in the ink, then rolled it softly, slightly dragging across the panel. I learned this technique from Vicki Boutin, a very talented Canadian artist. Look her up on YouTube and Facebook. Then I second-generation stamped my image in Crumb Cake. Second-generation stamping is just inking up your image, stamping off on a scrap paper then stamping again where you want it. I stamped on the panel and on another piece of Basic White card stock. Finally I got to watercolouring the image, letting it dry a bit and adding a bit more colour for shading. Last steps are to fussy cut, add dimensionals and stamp the sentiment.

Supplies I used:

I tried the background wash technique on the inside of the card but wasn't very happy with it. It turned out a little too dark for my liking and you can barely see my stamped image. You will never get the same results and you never know what the outcome is until you do it. So I am just rolling with it this time but didn't try it on the envelope.

Need more inspiration for the Stamp Act challenge, hop on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog to get the details. And upload your project so that we can see what's happening in your craft space.
