Krafty Chicks Challenge #759: CHRISTMAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Time for another great challenge from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. Welcome to week 2 of our challenges and that's to use a CHRISTMAS or any holiday/winter theme on your project. I chose to put the spotlight on Christmas this week!

 #759 CHRISTMAS

I thought since it's March and this month is usually associated with the colour GREEN, that I would create an all green Christmas card with a splash of gold. I went digging though my retired DSP for different patterns to use the background ornaments.

.Products used:

  • Stamp Set: Ornament Keepsakes (retired), More Merry Messages (retired)
  • Card Stock: Shaded Spruce (146981), Basic White (159276)
  • DSP: Tis The Season (retired)
  • Ink Pads: VersaMark (102283), Shaded Spruce (147088)
  • Accessories: Blending Brush (153611), Gold Pen (retired), Heat Tool (129053), Gold Embossing Powder (165678), Ornaments Framelits (retired), Gold Thread (retired),Christmas Bulb Builder Punch (retired), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

To keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple, I stamped a coordinating image and a little more DSP. Quick and easy and done.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for CHRISTMAS week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #757: MASCULINE

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Welcome to another great challenge week from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. MASCULINE is the theme this week and good luck to you. I struggle with cards for men. I love flowers and frills so I tend to buy more feminine stamp sets and play with those. I'll have to dig deep for masculine stamp set and dust them off before playing. Here we go!

 #757 MASCULINE

What do I do when I'm left with lots of left-over strips of DSP (Designer Series Paper)?? I put  them to good use and create a pretty background panel. Then I top it with some type of focal element. Here I went with a masculine image and ruffled the burlap edges to make it more manly.

Products used:
  • Stamp Set: He's All That (retired)
  • Card Stock: Thick White (159229), Pretty Peacock (150880), Wild Wheat (161725)
  • DSP: Everyday You & Me Scrapbook Kit (166628)
  • Ink Pads: Ear;y Espresso (147114)
  • Accessories: All That Dies (retired), Burlap ribbon (retired), Opaque Faceted Gems (retired), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

I like to keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple by just adding some DSP.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration from the Design Teamfor MASCULINE week . There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #756: CAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Are you ready for this week's challenge?? On the third week of the month, I'm the hostess and we are looking for CAS. I always have a difficult time with the true CAS design of lots of white space but I've come to realized after all this time that there's a wide interpretation to CAS (Clean And Simple). So just have fun with it.

#756 CAS

By looking at this card, you'd think it came together quite quickly. And it should have. But my mind had issues leaving it alone. I stamped and fussy cut flowers and they weren't right. I played with different layouts with these pieces and I wasn't liking it. Finally I said to myself: KEEP IT SIMPLE! and bam, just like that, I'm done!

Products used:
  • Stamp Set: Natural Botanicals (164861), Happy Little Things (Retired)
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White (159229)
  • Ink Pads: Old Olive (147090), Pecan Pie (161665)
  • Accessories: Left over Paper Pumpkin sentiment banner (retired), Brushed Brass Butterflies (158136), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

No card is complete without finishing the inside and the envelope with the same foliage image. Kept it  real simple!

Krafty Chicks Challenge #754: BIRTHDAY

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Well, I blinked and it's now February. Week one has a BIRTHDAY theme on the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. Create any paper craft with a birthday theme, male, female, kids, card, scrapbook or even home decor. We hope to see you in the gallery. Now let's get started with challenge

#754 BIRTHDAY

After creating the six layouts (3-two page spreads), I had some left over bits from the Everyday You & Me Scrapbook Kit that I wanted to use up. No need to build my paper stash; it's already mountain high. I also used Layout #21 on page 22 from Stampin' Up!'s Annual Catalogue. Very fun and easy sketch!

I coloured the chipboard elements from the kit. First I used my Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends but it didn't really take. I tried the Stampin' Write marker next and it still didn't show an inkling of yellow. Last thing to try: dab the chipboard in the Craft White ink pad, let it dry, then colour it with the Stampin' Write marker, now it looks like Wild Wheat and it looks great.

Products used:

  • Stamp Set: One More Year (164777)
  • Card Stock: Lost Lagoon (133679), Basic White (159276)
  • DSP: Everyday You & Me Scrapbook Kit (166628)
  • Ink Pads: Pretty Peacock (150083), Craft White (101731)
  • Stampin' Write Marker: Daffodil Delight (161696)
  • Accessories:Everyday You & Me chipboard (166628), Daffodil Delight ribbon (retired), Spotlight on Nature Dies (163580), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

No card is complete without finishing the inside of the card and the envelope. Keep it simple with a little DSP.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for BIRTHDAY week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #753: ANYTHING GOES

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

This week on the Krafty Chicks Challenge blog, it's ANYTHING GOES week. One of the easiest challenges because you can have any theme you like. It can be a card, (fancy fold even), a treat package, home decor, or a scrapbook page. Literally ANYTHING GOES!

 #753 ANYTHING GOES

This time around I created a Thank You card. When I picked the stamp set to play with it already had the big magnolia embossed in gold and watercoloured. All I needed to do was die cut it and add the gold thread behind it. It was perfect on Layout #20 from page 22 of Stampin' Up!'s Annual Catalogue.

Products used

  • Stamp set: Good Morning Magnolia (retired)
  • Card Stock: Basic Beige (164511), Very Vanilla (101650)
  • DSP: Magnolia Lane (retired)
  • Ink Pads: Pecan Pie (161665),Lemon Lime Twist (147145), VersaMark (102283)
  • Accessories: Nested Dies (retired), Magnolia Memory dies (retired), Gold elastic cord (retired), Heat Tool (129053), Gold Emboss Powder (165678), Watercolor Pencils (149014), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

I like to keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple with just a little DSP and a coordinating stamped image.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #752: MASCULINE

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Welcome to another great challenge week from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. MASCULINE is the theme this week and good luck to you. I struggle with cards for men. I love flowers and frills so I tend to buy more feminine stamp sets and play with those. I'll have to dig deep for masculine stamp sets and dust them off before playing.

 #752 MASCULINE

For this card, I'm also playing along with Layout #19 from page 22 of Stampin' Up!'s Annual Catalogue. Only a couple left and my Template Collection for this catalogue is complete.

I went searching through my unfinished Paper Pumpkin kits. I figured there had to be a masculine theme in a kit or two for inspiration. And when I opened the February 2023 box, I saw all the bits and pieces left over were perfect for Layout #19 that I wanted to use. Look closely at what I did:

Twelve circle on the template, twelve element on my card...plus an umbrella. Who said they needed to be identical shapes on the template?? And except for the flowers (part of the landscape), this card screams BOYS!!!

Products used:
  • Stamp Set: Sunshine And Smiles (Paper Pumpkin February 2023)
  • Card Stock: Soft Sea Foam (146988), Balmy Blue (146982)
  • Ink Pads: Memento (132708)
  • Stampin' Blends: Afternoon Azure (161672), Granny Apple Green (154885)
  • Accessories:Paper Pumpkin die cuts, Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

I finished off the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple by just adding some DSP and the last of the die cuts from the kit.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration from the Design Team for MASULINE week. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.
