Krafty Chicks Challenge 707: Christmas

Time for another great challenge from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. Welcome to week 2 of our challenges and that's to use a Christmas or any holiday/winter theme on your project. I chose to put the spotlight on Christmas this week!

Using the October 2022 HoHoHo Paper Pumpkin stamp set and last week's Freshly Made Sketches layout, I put this card together with some Warmth & Cheer DSP.

I paper pieced this Santa to add colour and sparkle to his hat and beard. Then for more glimmer and shine, I looped some gold twine in behind. And to finish this card off, some punched sprigs and balck dots.

To keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple, I added strips of DSP and stamped one more Santa and coloured him with my Stampin' Blends . Quick and easy and done.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for Christmas week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #706: Stamp

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

It's the first week of a brand new month, which means it's our STAMP week challenge. As long as something is stamped on your project, (rubber, polymer or digi) (sentiment or image), it qualifies for the challenge. Today we also introduce a new Guest Designer to play in the Hen House with us. Let us welcome Shirley of Stampin With Shirley G with open arms and send her some love in her comment section.

Here's a close up of my card for the STAMP challenge this week:

I always have fun playing with the Hello Ladybug stamp set and this card is no exception. Once I had my layout figured out and DSP chosen, my hardest decision was figuring out the leaf and ladybug placement. I even like the purple.

No card is complete without finishing the inside with more DSP. Got to use it up somehow. Same goes for the envelope. Keep it simple.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #705: Anything Goes (ATG)

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Lucky us, because this year is a Leap Yeap and 29 days in February, we get an extra challenge this month. I can't believe tomorrow is March already. Where does the time go?? And why must it go by so fast??

This week on the Krafty Chicks Challenge blog, it's Anything Goes week. One of the easiest challenges because you can have any theme you like. It can be a card, (fancy fold even), a treat package, home decor, or a scrapbook page. Literally Anything Goes!

Here's my project, well actually there's two cards today:

When I cut the first DSP (Designer Series Paper) for my front panel, I couldn't use the smaller flipped piece. It was the wrong angle. So I needed to cut a second front panel, this time making sure the heart pattern was facing up.

If you want to try this layout, I made a light pencil mark on the DSP 1" from the bottom on the left side and 1.5" on the right. Then aligned the marks on my trimmer to cut. I orginally made these for Valentine's cards but now I'm thinking Anniversaries or Love You themes would work too.

Here's a close up of my focal element. I die cut various sprigs and leaves from the Timeless Arrangements Dies in coordinating colours.

I like to keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple with just a little DSP and a coordinating stamped image.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for All Occasions week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #704: All Occasions

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Welcome to another great challenge week from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. All Occasions is the theme. Just create something that is suitable for any special event, like wedding, sympathy, thank you and so on.

Here's a close up:

If you follow Chick Denise's blog, you might recognize the familiarity of this card. I actually cased the inside of her card here. I was creating last week's CAS challenge card and then got carried away with extra balloons. This close up shows the two colour blend (Afternoon Azure and Highland Heather) using the Artistic Mix Decorative Mask. Then I didn't have any purple twine to coordinate for my balloons so I coloured some white twine with the Highland Heather Stampin' Blends.

I like to keep the inside of the card and the envelope just as CAS. For this set, I simply stamped lots of balloons in the three colours from the card..

Krafty Chicks Challenge #703: CAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Are you ready for this week's challenge? On the third week of the month, I'm the hostess and we are looking for CAS. There's a wide interpretation to CAS (Clean And Simple), so just have fun with it.

I do apologize for being a little late with this post. I did try three times to create something CAS and they all ended up with a little more of this and a little more of that. All the while this card was perfect for CAS week and was quietly sitting on the sidelines awaiting me to see it. I had set it aside while having another craft session and forgot all about it.

Now, here's my CAS Challenge card:

I cased Elaine Smith's (a Facebook find) fancy fold with the curved flap and subtle embossed lines down the left side (used the scoring blade on my trimmer every 1/4"). And believe it or not, this card is mostly DSP. Even the focal image! Here's a close up:

A little fussy cutting later and colouring with Stampin' Blends, the image is now more vibrant. I did use a Micro pen to outline the bird and flowers. And to finish of  the focal element, a simple sentiment and a few embellishments.

No card is complete without finishing the inside with a little more DSP. Cuz we all have lots of that in our collection. Same goes for the envelope. Keep it simple!

Want some more inspiration?? Go check out the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog to see what the Design Team have created. Hope you play along and upload your project so that we can see what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #702: Christmas

Oh yeah, it's Thursday! Time for another great challenge from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. Let's put the spotlight on Christmas this week!

Welcome to week 2 of our challenges! This time it's to use a Christmas theme, or any holiday/winter project. Not sure what it is but I really like how this card turned out. I did a mirror image technique for the candy cane on the left. Took me three tries to get it right and even then I had to touch it up a bit.

Using my Water Painter, I create more shadows on the banner. Maybe this is what I like most on the card, it seems to "ground" it, tie it all together.

Products I used:

  • Banners For Christmas stamp set
  • Thick Basic White card stock (159229)
  • Basic White card stock (159276)
  • Garden Green ink pad (147089)
  • Sweet Sorbet ink pad (159216)
  • Early Espresso ink pad (147114)
  • Real Red Stampin' Blends (154899)
  • Shaded Spruce Stampin' Blends (154903)
  • Water Painter (151298)
  • Paper Snip Scissors (103579)
  • Loose Holly Gems
  • Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

To keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple, I stamped a couple of sprigs of holly and few candy canes on the envelope flap. Quick and easy and done.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for Christmas week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #701: Stamp

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

It's the first week of a brand new month, which means it's our STAMP week challenge. As long as something is stamped on your project, (rubber, polymer or digi) (sentiment or image), it qualifies for the challenge. Today we're suppose to introduce a new Guest Designer to play in the Hen House with us but  Helen of http://craftinghelen.blogspot.com/ has accepted our invite to play with us for another month. Yay!

For my card this week, I cased a fellow demonstrator. Sadly I deleted my inspiration pic so I don't have her information to give her credit. Here's a close up of what caught my eye:

I've seen many cards that have a corner folded down and I've created cards that have the fold from a side edge. This just reminds me of peek-a-boo or a slow reveal.

No card is complete without finishing the inside with some DSP and a coordinating image (that is fussy cut from DSP). Same goes for the envelope. Keep it simple.
