Krafty Chicks Challenge #691: All Occasions

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Welcome to another great challenge week from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. All Occasions is the theme, so pretty much anything goes.

I created this Welcome Baby card for my dear friend (Krafty Chick Lori)'s daughter. The precious little boy is a week old now and already capturing the heart of every one he meets. I hope to meet him soon.

Believe it or not, this pattern paper is a holiday Designer Series Paper (Merry Bold & Bright, 161945). And the colour showing as a yellow is really Lemon Lime Twist (a green vibrant green shade). Poor photography on my part.

I like to keep the inside of the card and the envelope just as CAS, this time with a bit of DSP and a heart. The sentiment is from the Charming Sentiments stamp set (159985).

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for All Occasions week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #690: CAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Are you ready for this week's challenge? On the third week of the month, I'm the hostess and we are looking for CAS. There's a wide interpretation to CAS (Clean And Simple), just have fun with it.

Now, here's my CAS Challenge card:

All the month of November, I'm playing along with a fellow Demonstrator from the UK. He's known as Martin's Mayhem on Facebook. Every year he hosts a 30 Day Christmas Card Making Challenge. Last year, I did very well and was only short 2-3 cards by the end of it. This year, I'm only behind by one so far but will play catch up on the weekend.

The theme for today's challenge is "Oh What Fun!" And I knew I had a stamp that said exactly that, so I dusted the Christmas Messages stamp set off. And what's more fun than building a snowman (not in November though).

At first I stamped him directly to paper and I was going to mask him off before adding the stencil but then he looked too flat. So I stamped him again, coloured him with my Stampin' Blends, fussy cut him out and popped him on dimensionals.

No card is complete without finishing the inside with a coordinating image. I also used the same decorative mask (stencil) in the background. Same goes for the envelope. Keep it simple!

Krafty Chicks Challenge #689: Christmas

Oh yeah, it's Thursday! Time for another great challenge from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. Let's put the spotlight on Christmas this week!

I can't lie, the second week of the month is my favourite theme by far to play with. Every year I add 2-3 new Christmas stamp sets to my collection (at last count I have 127 sets). This year, I couldn't pass up the Beary Cute Suite Collection.

For this card, I let the DSP (Designer Series Paper) do most of the heavy lifting to create a work of art. Maybe I'm a little biased though. Then I added a little sparkle for support.

To keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple, I stamped a few trees.. Quick and easy and done.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for Christmas week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chick Challenge #688: Stamp Act

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

It's the first week of November, which means it's the STAMP ACT challenge. As long as something is stamped on your project, (rubber, polymer or digi) (sentiment or image), it qualifies for the challenge. Today we also introduce a new Guest Designer to play in the Hen House with us. Let us welcome Helen of Made By Helen with open arms and send her some love in her comment section.

Here's a close up of my Stamp Act Challenge card:

I needed another thank you card this week for a customer order. I just bought the Timeless Arrangements bundle and wanted to play with it. I created a wreath by stamping the images in a circle and covered the mess in the middle with the sentiment. I love the way it turned out. I played along with Cupcake Inspirations.

Such a great colour combo. I used Night of Navy, Boho Blue, Pecan Pie, Early Espresso, and Very Vanilla.

No card is complete without finishing the inside, this time with a bit of stamping. Same goes for the envelope. Just don't look too closely, I used a white envelope instead of the Very Vanilla. I'll fix that before mailing it out. Then I'll have to create a different card to match this one.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #687: All Occasions

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Welcome to another great challenge from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. All Occasions is the theme this week, so pretty much anything goes. I needed a thank you card and I created this one before it SNOWED a couple of days ago. Yup in Alberta, Canada, it snows whenever it feels like it, no matter the season. Let's hold on to hope it'll melt soon with these sunflowers though.

Can you believe these sunflowers are a stencil?? Stampin' Up! calls them masks. There's four layers that line up perfectly to make gorgeous flowers. I used my Blending Brushes to add colour quickly to the panel then used my Stitched Rectangle dies to pop up the center panel and add dimension. If you want a bit more shading, try using a Sponge Dauber and going heavier with the colour near the center. Here's a close up:

I like to keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple. That was easily done with stencilling a sunflower to coordinate the set.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #686: CAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Are you ready for this week's challenge? On the third week of the month, I'm the hostess and we are looking for CAS. There's a wide interpretation to CAS (Clean And Simple), we say just have fun with it.

Now, here's my CAS Challenge card:

I followed along with TGIF's Sketch Challenge #442 which had a very CAS layout. I even took out one of the layers. I'm using the sentiment as the focal element but I use an embossed panel (swiped with an ink pad) in the background and some branches to accentuate.

Here's a close up. I used some dimensionals to pop it up on the card base.

No card is complete without finishing the inside with a bit of card stock this time. For the envelope, I embossed the flap and inked it up. Keep it simple!

Krafty Chicks Challenge #685: Christmas

Oh yeah, it's Thursday! Time for another great challenge from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. Let's put the spotlight on Christmas this week!

This week I'm following along with the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers sketch. I am using a retired stamp set and punch, I thought it coordinated well with the Merry Bold And Bright DSP.

Here's a close up of the Christmas lights, I popped them up on dimensionals.

To keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple, I added some DSPand stamped more bulbs. Quick and easy and done.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for Christmas week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.
