Krafty Chicks Challenge #754: BIRTHDAY

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Well, I blinked and it's now February. Week one has a BIRTHDAY theme on the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. Create any paper craft with a birthday theme, male, female, kids, card, scrapbook or even home decor. We hope to see you in the gallery. Now let's get started with challenge

#754 BIRTHDAY

After creating the six layouts (3-two page spreads), I had some left over bits from the Everyday You & Me Scrapbook Kit that I wanted to use up. No need to build my paper stash; it's already mountain high. I also used Layout #21 on page 22 from Stampin' Up!'s Annual Catalogue. Very fun and easy sketch!

I coloured the chipboard elements from the kit. First I used my Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends but it didn't really take. I tried the Stampin' Write marker next and it still didn't show an inkling of yellow. Last thing to try: dab the chipboard in the Craft White ink pad, let it dry, then colour it with the Stampin' Write marker, now it looks like Wild Wheat and it looks great.

Products used:

  • Stamp Set: One More Year (164777)
  • Card Stock: Lost Lagoon (133679), Basic White (159276)

  • Ink Pads: Pretty Peacock (150083), Craft White (101731)

  • Accessories:Everyday You & Me chipboard (166628), Daffodil Delight ribbon (retired), Spotlight on Nature Dies (163580), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

Krafty Chicks Challenge #753: ANYTHING GOES

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

This week on the Krafty Chicks Challenge blog, it's ANYTHING GOES week. One of the easiest challenges because you can have any theme you like. It can be a card, (fancy fold even), a treat package, home decor, or a scrapbook page. Literally ANYTHING GOES!

 #753 ANYTHING GOES

This time around I created a Thank You card. When I picked the stamp set to play with it already had the big magnolia embossed in gold and watercoloured. All I needed to do was die cut it and add the gold thread behind it. It was perfect on Layout #20 from page 22 of Stampin' Up!'s Annual Catalogue.

Products used

  • Stamp set: Good Morning Magnolia (retired)
  • Card Stock: Basic Beige (164511), Very Vanilla (101650)
  • DSP: Magnolia Lane (retired)
  • Ink Pads: Pecan Pie (161665),Lemon Lime Twist (147145), VersaMark (102283)
  • Accessories: Nested Dies (retired), Magnolia Memory dies (retired), Gold elastic cord (retired), Heat Tool (129053), Gold Emboss Powder (165678), Watercolor Pencils (149014), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

I like to keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple with just a little DSP and a coordinating stamped image.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for ANYTHING GOES week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #752: MASCULINE

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Welcome to another great challenge week from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. MASCULINE is the theme this week and good luck to you. I struggle with cards for men. I love flowers and frills so I tend to buy more feminine stamp sets and play with those. I'll have to dig deep for masculine stamp sets and dust them off before playing.

 #752 MASCULINE

For this card, I'm also playing along with Layout #19 from page 22 of Stampin' Up!'s Annual Catalogue. Only a couple left and my Template Collection for this catalogue is complete.

I went searching through my unfinished Paper Pumpkin kits. I figured there had to be a masculine theme in a kit or two for inspiration. And when I opened the February 2023 box, I saw all the bits and pieces left over were perfect for Layout #19 that I wanted to use. Look closely at what I did:

Twelve circle on the template, twelve element on my card...plus an umbrella. Who said they needed to be identical shapes on the template?? And except for the flowers (part of the landscape), this card screams BOYS!!!

Products used:
  • Stamp Set: Sunshine And Smiles (Paper Pumpkin February 2023)
  • Card Stock: Soft Sea Foam (146988), Balmy Blue (146982)
  • Ink Pads: Memento (132708)
  • Stampin' Blends: Afternoon Azure (161672), Granny Apple Green (154885)
  • Accessories:Paper Pumpkin die cuts, Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

I finished off the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple by just adding some DSP and the last of the die cuts from the kit.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration from the Design Team for MASULINE week. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #751: CAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Are you ready for this week's challenge?? On the third week of the month, I'm the hostess and we are looking for CAS. I always have a difficult time with the true CAS design of lots of white space but I've come to realized after all this time that there's a wide interpretation to CAS (Clean And Simple). So just have fun with it.

I'm getting ready for Valentine's Day! I've already create a card for my sweetie. I'm just waiting for the head count for my grandsons classes before I sit down to design them. That takes the longest time.

I'm using Layout #18 from page 22 of Stampin' Up!'s Annual Catalogue. This template was fun to play with. I kept a lot of white space but I had to dry emboss some panels. Don't you think Red and Gold represent LOVE! I do, So does hearts, lots of hearts to show lots of love.

Products used:
  • Stamp Set: Snow Day (166490)
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White (159229), Gold Foil Sheets (132622)
  • DSP: Most Adored (retired)
  • Ink Pads: Real Red (147084)
  • Accessories: Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder (164049), Heart Punch (retired), Banner Punch (retired), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

No card is complete without finishing the inside with a coordinating image. I also used the same decorative mask (stencil) in the background. Same goes for the envelope. Keep it simple!

Want some more inspiration?? Go check out the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog to see what the Design Team have created. Hope you play along and upload your project so that we can see what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #750: Christmas

Time for another great challenge from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog.

Welcome to week 2 of our challenges and that's to use a Christmas or any holiday/winter theme on your project. I chose to put the spotlight on Christmas this week!

I'm using Layout #17 of Stampin' Up!'s Annual Catalogue this week. A very simple sketch that uses your scrap strips of DSP or even card stock will work here and a large focal image. While adhering my strips, I accidentally dropped it and it was slightly crooked. So I set the other pieces slightly askew too and I liked it. So then of course it only felt right to tilt the sentiment. Easy peasy and done quickly!

Products used:
  • Stamp Set: Carols of Christnas (retired)
  • Card Stock: Early Espresso (119686), Basic White (159276)
  • DSP: (retired, so old I don't remember the name)
  • Ink Pads: Early Espresso (147114)
  • Accessories: Sparkle gems (161288), Stampin Dimensionals (104430)

To keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple, I added a little more DSP. Quick and easy and done

Krafty Chicks Challenge #749: BIRTHDAY

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

I am having so much fun on the Design Team (DT) for the Krafty Chicks Challenge that I signed on for another year. Let me give you a small bio: we are a team of 4 designers dedicated to bring you inspiration on weekly challenges. We've changed things up a bit for 2025. Our goal is to keep paper crafting simple with these themes: BIRTHDAY, CHRISTMAS, CAS (Clean And Simple), and MASCULINE. Ok maybe the last one isn't so simple... if you're me. We all need these cards in our stash anyway, so why not have a fun challenge to play along with. We hope to see you in the gallery. Now let's get started with challenge:

#749 BIRTHDAY

What's the first thing you notice about this card??

I see purple! If you know me, you know I've been saying for years that I'm not a fan of any shade of purple with the exception of flowers. Yet purple seems to get thrown at me at every chance. And lately, I've been okay with it! So moving forward, I will be embracing the purple in my life.

For this BIRTHDAY card, I'm using Layout #16 from page 22 of Stampin' Up!'s Annual Catalogue. I love that they have included these card designs to inspire us paper crafter who sometimes get stuck on where to begin.

Products used:

  • Stamp Set: You Are Amazing (Retired)
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White (159299), Wisteria Wonder (Retired)
  • DSP: Have A Cuppa (Retired)
  • Ink Pads: Wisteria Wonder (Retired)
  • Accessories: Triple Banner Punch (Retired), Detailed Birthday Edgelits (Retired), Purple Adhesive-Backed Sequins (164970, coming January 7th FREE in SAB brochure)

No card is complete without finishing the inside of the card and the envelope. Keep it simple with a little DSP and/or coordinating image.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for BIRTHDAY week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.
