Krafty Chicks Challenge #836: BIRTHDAY

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

New month, new challenge starting today. Week one brings us a BIRTHDAY theme on the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. Create any paper craft with a birthday theme, male, female, kids, card, scrapbook or even home decor. We hope to see you in the gallery.

#836 BIRTHDAY

Most times that I get creative, I start with a sketch. And most often it's from the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge. Then from there I pick a stamp set and DSP. I let the DSP pick the colours. Then I make it all work together. That's my creative thought process! So this week, that's what I did. Here's the sketch:

It's actually last week's sketch so I didn't enter their challenge but I do want to give them credit. From the sketch, I wondered if I had such a big flower stamp... of course I do. And I knew this stamp set had a coordinating DSP. So that checked all the boxes and I got started.

Products used:

  • Stamp Set: Friendly Hello
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White, Fresh Fresia
  • DSP: Friendly Hello
  • Ink Pads: Memento, Granny Apple Green
  • Stampin' Blends: Pecan Pie, Granny Apple Green, Petal Pink, Calypso Coral
  • Accessories: Meant To Bee Dies, Banner Builder Punch, Paper Snips, Stampin' Dimensionals

No card is complete without finishing the inside of the card and the envelope. Keep it simple with a little DSP and/or coordinating image.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for BIRTHDAY week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #834: CAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Are you ready for this week's challenge?? On the third week of the month, I'm the hostess and we are looking for CAS. I always have a difficult time with the true CAS design of lots of white space but I've come to realized after all this time that there's a wide interpretation to CAS (Clean And Simple). So just have fun with it.

#834 CAS

Another fun time creating this card using the Freshly Made Sketches layout. This is actually the second card I make with this sketch. The first thing I thought when looking at the sketch was the July Paper Pumpkin kit. I'll be showcasing that on my Facebook group page Diane's Craft Space on Saturday.

But then I thought about the air balloons stamp set. I fiddled a while trying to fit the different air balloons nicely and it just was working for me. And I even tried different colours, still nada. Then I remembered some DSP in my stash with clouds and rainbows. Rainbows didn't work either but the clouds finished it off. The struggle to create CAS projects for me is REAL!

Products used:

  • Stamp Set: Lift Me Up
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White, Pretty Peacock
  • DSP: Sunshine & Rainbows
  • Ink Pads: Pretty Peacock
  • Stampin' Blends: Pretty Peacock (to colour the dots)
  • Accessories: Lift Me Up Dies, Classic Dots, Stampin Dimensionals

No card is complete without finishing the inside and envelope with a coordinating image and DSP. Keep it simple!

Krafty Chicks Challenge #833: CHRISTMAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Time for another great challenge from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. Welcome to week 2 of our challenges and that's to use a CHRISTMAS or any holiday/winter theme on your project. I chose to put the spotlight on Christmas this week!

 #833 CHRISTMAS

Playing with last week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge #748 as it was a simple layout.

I already knew which stamp set to ink up, just needed to find a simple DSP for the background. That was the "hard" part, I have A LOT of Christmas DSP to pick from but once I found it, it was smooth sailing.

To keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple, I stamped a coordinating image and a little more DSP. Quick and easy and done.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for CHRISTMAS week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #829: CAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Are you ready for this week's challenge?? On the third week of the month, I'm the hostess and we are looking for CAS. I always have a difficult time with the true CAS design of lots of white space but I've come to realized after all this time that there's a wide interpretation to CAS (Clean And Simple). #829 CAS

I waited to the very last minute this week to create my CAS card. I have the youngest grandson visiting with us this week and it's been tough to sneak away to my craft space. I almost decided to skip this week and call it a holiday but I did manage to eek out a few minutes before my July Card Class. I followed the new layout at Freshly Made Sketches and the card took no time at all.

Products used:

  • Stamp Set: June 2026 Paper Pumpkin kit: Bikes & Blooms, Supremely Awesome
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White, Lost Lagoon
  • Ink Pads: Memento, Lost Lagoon
  • Stampin' Blends: Lost Lagoon
  • Accessories: Blending Brush, Stampin Dimensionals

No card is complete without finishing the inside and envelope with a coordinating image and a strip of card stock. Keep it simple!

Holly And Ivy Challenge #205

Welcome my crafty friends! This week I have an extra post for you because I am playing along with the Holly And Ivy Christmas Challenge #205 while using the current Freshly Made Sketches #738. Here is my card:

I thought I'd add another challenge to myself by using noon-traditional colours on a Christmas card. Azure Afternoon isn't a colour I use often. It's a different blue, a pretty blue, just not a blue that appeals to me like the other shades we have. So I made it my focal element. I paired it up with Flirty Flamingo and Crumb Cake.

 Products Used:

  • Stamp Set: Carols of Christmas and Gorgeous Grunge
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White, Azure Afternoon
  • Ink Pads: VersaMark, Flirty Flamingo, Crumb Cake
  • Accessories: Card Front Builder Dies, Tinsel Gems, Stampin' Dimensionals

If you haven't noticed by now, I always finish of the card by decorating the inside and the envelope. I like to keep it quick and simple by adding a coordinating image and card stock or DSP. It's worth the added effort, in my opinion.

Thank you for stopping by and seeing my creation for the following challenges:

Till next time, happy crafting!

Diane

Krafty Chicks Challenge #816: CAS

#816 CAS

With all the hustle and bustle of the last two weeks, I created this card this morning, last minute and I think it turned out great. You'd never know it though. I found the inspiration from the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge.

I love this layout! I first thought flowers. It is spring after all! Or in Alberta trying to speed up spring. But thumbing through which stamp set I wanted to play with, the soccer one screamed "Pick Me"!

Products used:

  • Stamp Set: Match Day
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White
  • DSP: A Wonderful Match
  • Ink Pads: Memento
  • Stampin' Blends: Real Red, Basic Black, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, and Color Lifter
  • Accessories: Match Day dies, Stampin Dimensionals

No card is complete without finishing the inside with a coordinating image and a little DSP. Same goes for the envelope. Keep it simple!

Krafty Chicks Challenge #775: BIRTHDAY

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Well, I blinked and it's now July. Week one has a BIRTHDAY theme on the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. Create any paper craft with a birthday theme, male, female, kids, card, scrapbook or even home decor. We hope to see you in the gallery. Now let's get started with challenge

#775 BIRTHDAY

I created this card with the June Paper Pumpkin kit using last week's layout from Freshly Made Sketches. I like to get creative with the kits each month and make some alternative to show my customers how versatile Paper Pumpkin is: you can assemble the beautiful cards from the kit as intended and enjoy a simple crafty session or if you dare, chop up the card stock, trim the die cuts and create from a vision from your imagination.

Products used:

  • Stamp Set: Full Of Charm (Paper Pumpkin June 2025)
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White (159229), Berry Burst (144243)
  • DSP: Full Of Charm (Paper Pumpkin June 2025)
  • Ink Pads: VersaMark (102283), Mossy Meadow (147111), Berry Burst (147143), Pretty Peacock (150083)
  • Accessories: Blending Brush (153611), Gold cord (retired), Gold Sequins (from the kit), Heat Tool (129053), Wow White Embossing Powder (165679), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

No card is complete without finishing the inside of the card and the envelope. Keep it simple with a little DSP and/or coordinating image.
