Krafty Chicks Challenge #609: All Occasions

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Welcome to another great challenge week from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. All Occasions is the theme, so pretty much anything goes. Here's my card:

Going through my pile of Last Chance stamp sets to see what I want to use for this week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Pampered Pets jumped out at me because I also have the retired coordinating DSP that is perfect for the sketch. It's another discontinued stamp set that sold out quickly.

 Supplies I used:

Here I kept the inside of the card and the envelope CAS, just a little DSP to do the trick. The puppies here are die cuts from the DSP, no fussy cutting.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for All Occasions week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #608: CAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Are you ready for this week's challenge? I'm the hostess and we are looking for CAS, as in Clean And Simple. Here's my card:

I am so sad that this stamp set is retiring and discontinued already. I'm not sure why I haven't shown it much love either, it's such an amazing set with coordinating dies and a sentiment of different occasions. I played along with the Freshly Made Sketches and CAS Colours and Sketches challenges.

Supplies I used:

I like to keep the inside of the card and the envelope just as CAS. I just stamped a few flowers and leaves for a simple decor.

Want some more inspiration?? Go check out the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog to see what the Design Team have created. Hope you play along and upload your project so that we can see what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #607: Christmas

Yeah, it's Thursday! Time for another great challenge from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. Let's put the spotlight on Christmas and a little Throwback Thursday things too!

I played along with the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #465. I was looking for a quick simple layout and this was perfect for it!

I thought I'd shown one last card using the Perfectly Plaid stamp set since it is retiring on May 2, 2022 but it turns out it didn't make it to the end. They are all sold out! No longer available! So now it's considered a Throwback Thursday product. Lots of items that are on the Last Chance List are already discontinued and no longer available. I highly recommend if you have a few things left on your Wish List, grab it now before it's too late. You can shop at my ONLINE STORE.

Supplies I used:

I like to keep the inside of the card and the envelope just as CAS; a little plaid tree here and there and Ho Ho Ho for good measure.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for Christmas week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Friday Inspiration: Freshly Made Sketched #530

Welcome back to my creative blog and thank you from stopping in today. Here's some Friday Inspiration to get you in the crafting mood this weekend.

A little SNEAK PEEK at a stamp set that is coming in the new 2022-2023 Annual Catalogue. It goes live on May 3, 2022. Ask your demonstrator for one! If you currently do not have a demonstrator and live in Canada, I'd be happy to send one your way. Message me at su.ink.outside.the.box@gmail.com

Demonstrators were challenged to create a swap card for the annual On Tour event. It's a virtual business convention where we learn a little and connect with other demonstrators. Four stamp sets were randomly sent to those who registered. I received the hardest one to create with: Limited Edition.

It's the Angel Policy stamp set. In case you didn't know this: If you sell your creations using Stampin' Up! images, you MUST use a copyright stamp in a visible area; most crafters put it on the back of the card, scrapbook page, 3D item, etc. Most of us don't actually create anything using this stamp set. So I had to think outside the box on this one. Then I stumbled across the Freshly Made Sketches site...

I instantly knew what I wanted to do. With a little help of the New Horizons DSP and the Mountain Air stamp set, I got straight to it. I created a scene on top of the DSP that was a watercoloured background of sky and land. I just enhanced the landscape with actual images of trees and mountains.

Little tip: You can cut your stamps to separate the sentiment from the image. Or do what I did and tape off the part you don't want to ink up. Just remember though to remove the tape after inking and before stamping.

Supplies I used:

To complete the card set, I stamped the mountains and trees on the inside of the card and the envelope flap. I liked the two trees stamp so I put that on the front of the envelope. It ties in with the landscape of trees in the background.

Hope you enjoyed today's inspiration and squeeze in some crafty time this weekend!

Krafty Chicks Challenge #606: Stamp Act and Throwback Thursday

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Welcome April and let's hope spring is here to stay. We've had mixed weather conditions since the season officially began a couple of weeks ago. Rain, snow, wind and cold but there was sunny sunny days with double digit temps too. So unpredictable, especially in Alberta. I'm going to enjoy the next couple of days of sun and warm 14 and 20 degree weather. Might even get my windows done! Whoah!

Onto my card for this week's Krafty Chicks Challenge : Stamp Act. As long as something is stamped, be it an image or a sentiment, it qualifies for the Stamp Act challenge.

I absolutely love how this card came together. I always have trouble creating masculine cards. I'm a flower kind of girl! Maybe the sketch from Fusion Card Challenge made it simple enough this time.

Have you played along with their challenge? You have the choice of creating with a sketch or an inspiration pic  (this week it's bunnies) or combining both. Remember that I'm going alphabetical with showing a bit of love to my retired stamp set. Fish was the next best catch. Not bunnies!

In this close up, I'm showing how the fins are die cut (it's build into the die itself) and raised with mini dimensionals. And check out my colouring, I'm extremely please at how it came out. I'm working on my blending skills, a work in progress!

Supplies I used:

I like to keep the inside of the card and the envelope CAS. I'll post a pic of the inside of the card tomorrow, as I write this post, it's getting kind of late. A little card stock strips, lots of baskets and another coloured fish completes this card set.

Need more inspiration for the Stamp Act challenge, hop on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog to get the details. And upload your project so that we can see what's happening in your craft space.

Sentiment Sunday: CAS Colours & Sketches Double

Welcome back to my blog, always nice to have visitors stop in to have a look at what's happening in my craft space. I hope it inspires you to get into yours. Today I’m playing along with CAS Colours & Sketches #463: Double. Or so I thought, until I started writing this blog post. It's a colour challenge AND a sketch challenge into one. Love it! But I forgot the Colour part. Lol! That's right I only used the sketch.

I don't believe I should have been making cards today. It's been a whirlwind of oopsies from the get go. I will show you some of my bloopers and tell you all about it. But first here's my card:

Nice. Clean. Simple. Well put together. You'd never know my troubles with this one. Started when I saw a Facebook Memory (from 2015) where I told my daughter that we should try this art technique with the boys. Well today was the day I was going to try it. I am using Ink Refills instead of food colour. I didn't think I needed a plastic glass when there's only a bit of water in the bottom. So I repurposed my empty Glitter and Embossing Powder containers. I knew they'd come in handy one day! And who needs a full straw with short "cups", so I cut it into 4 pieces.

Well the joke was on me. You do need longer straws: blowing through short straw means your face is right near the opening. When you blow to create the bubbles, those bubbles hit you in the face. Bubble pop, leaving colour on face. Did NOT take a pic of that! It was light though and didn't stain. Phew! So I got the longer straws. You do need taller cups: small containers means there's no room for the air that I was blowing (to create bubbles) to freely move in the container, in so spilled over, creating a little mess. So I got the plastic cups.

Once I started playing with the bubbles, it was fun! I used different paper to determine which would have the best effect. Glossy had the best bubbles showing but faint background colour, not my favourite. Photo paper created great background colour and perfect bubble outlines. Shimmery card stock had the same effect as the photo paper but absorbed the colour more, so less crisp bubble outline.

Now that I'm done with the technique, I poured the coloured water back into the smaller containers and put away. Maybe next time the grand kids come over, we can make bubble art. Or heck I might even use this technique for Crafty Inkettes United Card Club in a couple of weeks.

Now I can create my card. I ended up using the Shimmery paper since it's current Stampin' Up! card stock. I cut it to size, layered it onto a Basic Black matte, and tossed it to the side. Literally! Not paying attention where it landed. On an opened Memento ink pad but I don't know that yet. I heat emboss my sentiment, add dimensionals to the back and now grab my background piece. I'm ready to freak!

But let's try this I tell myself (out loud, cuz I'm getting a professional opinion). I randomly tapped my ink pad to the panel creating some lines, giving it a mixed media look. Nailed it!!! Now moving on.

Here’s a close up of the bubbles and the black random lines. I forgot to take the Nailed It pic.

Supplies I used: (I'll come back after work this evening to create the product links)

  • Ornate Thanks stamp set: 149471
  •  Just Jade card stock: 153079
  • Basic Black card stock: 121045
  • Basic White card stock: 159276
  • Memento ink pad: 132708
  • VersaMark ink pad: 102283
  • Just Jade ink refill: 153121
  • Heat Tool: 129053
  • White Embossing powder: 155554
  • Gold Elastic cord: retired
  • Stampin' Dimensionals: 104430

I used a little left over card stock from when I trimmed my bubble pattern paper and matted it with the black. When it came to the envelope, I realized that I put everything away. There was really no other way I could think of, at that moment, to finish it other than more bubbles. So I brought it all back out, created my envelope, cleaned up and put everything away. AGAIN! The end!

I won't be entering my card in the challenge since I didn't actually follow the challenge but I'd thought I'd show it to you anyway, in case you wanted to play along too. Hurry though, challenge ends tomorrow. This is what I was suppose to be following:

Hope you enjoyed my humbling crafternoon story and are inspired to create something wonderful in your craft space.

Friday Inspiration: Freshly Made Sketches #529

Welcome back to my blog and thank you for stopping in today. Here's some Friday Inspiration to get you into the crafting mood this weekend. For the next little while I will be playing with current stamp set that are on the Last Chance List. That means they are retired on May 3! That means you have one month (and it goes by fast) until May 2, 2022 at 11:59pm to order any product that made that list! That means once supplies are gone, they are sold out forever! That means they need lots of love right now.

EDIT TO ADD: Sadly Timeless Tropical is not longer available.

Today I decide to use the Timeless Tropical stamp set. It does have a coordinating die set, In The Tropic's Dies (still available and on sale for $28.80, amazing deal) but I don't own it. I figured most of the images were easy enough to fussy cut and I don't mind fussy cutting. If you are not one of those people, then the dies are a must-have!

I chose this stamp set because I have never given it much love. I only ever used one sentiment. I won the set at On Stage a few years ago and I'm not sure why it's still uninked. I love the font on the sentiments, the flowers images are perfect to colour with my Stampin' Blends, I don't care for the pineapple but that should not stop me from using the Timeless Tropical stamp set.

Supplies I used:

No card is ever complete without finishing the inside and the envelope. I had a hard time this time deciding. I do have some of the retired DSP that coordinated but since it wasn't on the card, I didn't feel I should incorporate it. So palm trees it is! Maybe you can't tell but I had a little snafu with blending on the inside card. I forgot to tap off the excess ink before putting it to paper. I kind of sort of fixed it with my Water Painter. I gently moved the colour over to even it out, being careful not to over saturate the paper. It has removed the "splotch" and has given it a watercolor look instead of the blending look on the rest of the card. I'm calling it a win anyway.

I'm entering my card in the Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I love their CAS layouts and often refer back to their sketches.

Hope you enjoyed today's inspiration and squeeze in some crafty time this weekend.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #712: CAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you! Are you ready for this week's challenge?? On the third week of the month, I'm the hostess and ...
