Friday Inspiration: Hello Ladybug

 Good day and welcome to my humble blog. I'm an Independent Demonstrator with Stampin' Up! and I'm here to offer you inspiration and encourage you to get into your craft space to get creative. Every Friday in my FaceBook group, Diane's Craft Space, I post an inspirational card. I try to keep it simple so even a beginner can CASE (Copy And Share Everything) it.

This week's card session brought on a trifecta of cards. I CASEd them from a Newsletter that demonstrators get every week for business tips, class ideas and inspiration. Here they are:

In my opinion, my version is just as cute as the inspiration. Now let's get a closer at each card.

The first card is more geared for a beginner stamper.

It's pretty much Stamp. Ink, Paper (SIP card). Simple stamping at its finest! Stamp the flower in Fresh Freesia ink, add the stems. I used the Granny Apple Green Stampin' Write marker since the Hello Ladybug stamp set doesn't have a stem or small leaf stamp. Then I stamped the sentiment in Memento ink. On scrap Basic White card stock, stamp the bee body in Lemon Lolly ink, punch it out, then using my Basic Black Stampin' Write marker brush end to add the bee stripes and the pen end to trace the body whimsically and added a face. For  the wings, I reversed the dotted wing stamp and used it as a solid. Used Pool Party ink, stamped off on scrap paper then onto my Basic White card stock. And again I traced the outline. The whimsy was more for my unsteady hand and not being able to ever get things straight. Popped my Bee on Stampin' Dimensionals and voila: card done.

For card number 2, we are catering to the Casual stamper. They have many supplies, just maybe not all the tools They can step it up a notch.
 
I've replace the white card base with colour. Stamped the wing dots randomly around in a frame in Fresh Fressia ink. It's the same process as above except stamp another set of flowers, and a popped up strip with more flowers (some are fussy cut and popped up too. Lastly added Opal Rounds . I didn't realize these were retired but you can use the Iridescent Pearls.

Finally we have the Avid stamper version:

I've added flowers across the panel and fussy cut a few more. This time the sentiment is embossed on Basic Black card stock.

  • White Embossing Powder- 155554 (come in a set with Black and Clear embossing powders)
     

If you've been following my blog for a while, you know that I do not leave the card inside or envelope bare. I like a little something, something simple as the star of the show is the card front. Here I used the flowers stamp and stems. Beginner card only has one trio of flowers (same as the card front), Casual card has two trio. And the Avid is splatter with them.

Friday Inspiration: Playing In The Rain

 Good day and welcome to my humble blog. I'm an Independent Demonstrator with Stampin' Up! and I'm here to offer you inspiration and encourage you to get into your craft space to get creative. Every Friday in my Facebook group, Diane's Craft Space, I post an inspirational card. I try to keep it simple so even a beginner can CASE it (Copy And Share Everything).

Here is this week's card using all current product except the Stitched Circle die but you can use Stylish Shape Dies (159183) or the 2 3/8" Circle Punch (161354).

I created two versions of this card. The one above is using all current products and horizontal. The other below (scroll down a bit) uses almost all retired products and created vertically but same sketch layout.

I used the following products:

And then the decorated envelope and inside of the card. Keeping it simple with DSP and Mr Turtle.
 

Now here is the version of the same layout turned vertically using mostly retired products:

After seeing Helen's card this week on the Krafty Chicks Challenge blog, I had to dust off my pandas. This stamp set is the retired Party Pandas, it was a FREE SAB set a few years back and I just couldn't part with it. 

I finished the inside the same as the previous card. I'm really that simple!

Dear Doily For Friday Inspiration

 Good day and welcome to my humble blog. I'm an Independent Demonstrator with Stampin' Up! and I'm here to offer you inspiration and encourage you to get into your craft space to get creative. Every Friday in my FaceBook group, Diane's Craft Space, I post an inspirational card. I try to keep it simple so even a beginner can CASE (Copy And Share Everything) it.

Here is this week's card:

 I started off by finding a sketch that I wanted to use; easiest way to find your mojo and get your creative juice flowing. I chose (and I often do) Freshly Made Sketches #618. The Design Team offers you even more inspiration, so go have a look.

My word of the year is DECLUTTER, or destash. I'm looking to simplify my life and that includes destashing my craft space. Most of my makes will now use mostly retired products. If I can't sell it, I might as well use it. 

Can you guess all the retired products used?? With the exception of the Thick Basic White card stock for the base (item 159229), the Gorgeous Grape ink pad (item 147099), the Dark Highland Heather Stampin' Blends (item 154887), and the Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels* (item 158987), everything else on this card is retired.

* TIP: If you look closely, you'll notice the pearls are purple, not at all the same as in the catalogue. Here's my trick to a different coloured pearl, or rhinestone, or gem, or sequin, or ribbon, or twine: colour THEM with the Stampin's Blends colour of your choosing. Tada!

If you've been following my blog for a while, you know that I do not leave the card inside or envelope bare. I like a little something, something simple as the start of the show is the card front. Here I used the DSP again (cuz I have lots of it, it's a 48 sheet package that I've barely made a dent into) and a doily image with sentiment for the inside. The doily on the inside of the card was stamped off three times (that's usually enough) but it's still too dark. I recommend you stamp off  as many times as you need on scratch paper first and see which "shade" is the beast for you.

I Really Appreciate You Card

 Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog. This is my second post this week. Shocking!! One of my #24for24 challenge is to create at least 3 blog posts a week. It's doable, so I'll do my best.

Here's my card:

I am play with two challenges with this gorgeous card.

Here I'm showcasing most of the products I used to create this card. Notice the Most Adored 12x12 Specialty DSP (162570)! One side of each sheet has a gold element to it and the other side have reds and pinks; perfect for Valentine but not just for this holiday. Think Love and Anniversary too. And you can get this Specialty DSP for FREE when you buy from my online store (Shop With Me) or from the catalogue.

Another part of my #24for24 is to use up my stash. As a Demonstrator for 15 years, I have accumulated a lot, I mean shelves upon shelves, of product from stamp sets to card stock to DSP to punches and then some. I've used a few retired products in the past but this year, I aim to do even more. Just because it's retired doesn't mean it's useless. All Stampin' Up!'s products are high quality and made to last. So use it as often as you can. Can you spot the retired items in this pic (look on the card too)??

Here's a close up. See all the sparkle! From the silver glimmer paper and the silver cord. And what about all that shine from the gold strips (132622), the gold on the DSP (162570) and the gold embossed (155555) sentiment which comes from the Timeless Arrangements stamp set (161521) and die cut using the coordinating dies (161525).

Then I finished off the inside and the envelope with a bit more DSP and a little sparkly twig that I needed cut off from the die cut.

Friday Inspiration: Friendly Gnomes

 Happy Friday everyone! It’s almost the weekend, hope you scheduled some “ME time” in your craft space.

Here’s this week’s Friday Inspiration card using the Friendly Gnomes stamp set, the Heart punch and the Alphabet A La Mode dies.

 
 
 If you know me, you know I’m all about gnomes. Have been for a couple of years, maybe because it’s the trend but maybe not. I have a Valentine one, a Christmas one, a Thanksgiving/fall one (thanks Jessica), a wind chime (thanks Ski) that will never go outside cuz I don’t want to ruin it, all three stamp sets from Stampin Up!, and of course a whole bunch scattered around in my flower beds (a Mother’s Day gift). I’m not tired of them yet.

I followed along with Freshly Made Sketches and Color Throwdown’s current challenges.

I completed the cards set by decorating the inside of the card and envelope with a bit of DSP and a heart.

Friday Inspiration: Freshly Made Sketched #530

Welcome back to my creative blog and thank you from stopping in today. Here's some Friday Inspiration to get you in the crafting mood this weekend. 

A little SNEAK PEEK at a stamp set that is coming in the new 2022-2023 Annual Catalogue. It goes live on May 3, 2022. Ask your demonstrator for one! If you currently do not have a demonstrator and live in Canada, I'd be happy to send one your way. Message me at su.ink.outside.the.box@gmail.com

Demonstrators were challenged to create a swap card for the annual On Tour event. It's a virtual business convention where we learn a little and connect with other demonstrators. Four stamp sets were randomly sent to those who registered. I received the hardest one to create with: Limited Edition.


 It's the Angel Policy stamp set. In case you didn't know this: If you sell your creations using Stampin' Up! images, you MUST use a copyright stamp in a visible area; most crafters put it on the back of the card, scrapbook page, 3D item, etc. Most of us don't actually create anything using this stamp set. So I had to think outside the box on this one. Then I stumbled across the Freshly Made Sketches site...

I instantly knew what I wanted to do. With a little help of the New Horizons DSP and the Mountain Air stamp set, I got straight to it. I created a scene on top of the DSP that was a watercoloured background of sky and land. I just enhanced the landscape with actual images of trees and mountains. 

Little tip: You can cut your stamps to separate the sentiment from the image. Or do what I did and tape off the part you don't want to ink up. Just remember though to remove the tape after inking and before stamping.

 To complete the card set, I stamped the mountains and trees on the inside of the card and the envelope flap. I liked the two trees stamp so I put that on the front of the envelope. It ties in with the landscape of trees in the background.

Friday Inspiration: Freshly Made Sketches #529

 Welcome back to my blog and thank you for stopping in today. Here's some Friday Inspiration to get you into the crafting mood this weekend. For the next little while I will be playing with current stamp set that are on the Last Chance List. That means they are retired on May 3! That means you have one month (and it goes by fast) until May 2, 2022 at 11:59pm to order any product that made that list! That means once supplies are gone, they are sold out forever! That means they need lots of love right now.

EDIT TO ADD: Sadly Timeless Tropical is not longer available.

Today I decide to use the Timeless Tropical stamp set. It does have a coordinating die set, In The Tropic's Dies (still available and on sale for $28.80, amazing deal) but I don't own it. I figured most of the images were easy enough to fussy cut and I don't mind fussy cutting. If you are not one of those people, then the dies are a must-have!

I chose this stamp set because I have never given it much love. I only ever used one sentiment. I won the set at On Stage a few years ago and I'm not sure why it's still uninked. I love the font on the sentiments, the flowers images are perfect to colour with my Stampin' Blends, I don't care for the pineapple but that should not stop me from using the Timeless Tropical stamp set.

No card is ever complete without finishing the inside and the envelope. I had a hard time this time deciding. I do have some of the retired DSP that coordinated but since it wasn't on the card, I didn't feel I should incorporate it. So palm trees it is! Maybe you can't tell but I had a little snafu with blending on the inside card. I forgot to tap off the excess ink before putting it to paper. I kind of sort of fixed it with my Water Painter. I gently moved the colour over to even it out, being careful not to over saturate the paper. It has removed the "splotch" and has given it a watercolor look instead of the blending look on the rest of the card. I'm calling it a win anyway.

I'm entering my card in the Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I love their CAS layouts and often refer back to their sketches.

Friday Inspiration: Fun Folds 3 Ways

 Welcome back to my blog and thank you for stopping in today. On my Tuesday Night Live @7pm this week, I played with a new to me Fun Fold. As I was scrolling on Facebook one day, I came across Stampin' With Jackie/Klompen Stampers (link is to blog) creating a card using DSP as the base. Say what??? What a genius way to use up some of the current but retiring DSP as well as my hoard of it! She demonstrated 3 different fun folds and I like them all. My favourite fold though is this one:

I've made a few versions and there will be more created I'm sure. Here it is opened up and with envelope complete.

Of course one can embellish as much as one wants. I decided to keep this simple. You can watch the Live replay if you want the step by step (with a little oops I skipped a step) guide. Here are the measurements you need to know for the M Fun Fold (DSP Card Base 1):

For the second Fun Fold, I used this layout for my Krafty Chicks Challenge/Throwback Thursday post. But I created another for today's post using the same DSP for all three folds. This is a quick and easy card to throw together in a pinch. You can do this card two ways: 1) zero waste, create 3 card bases. Just cut your DSP at 4". Card is slightly smaller than standard size.. 2) create 2 card bases and some left over to decorate your envelope. Just cut your DSP at 4 1/4", creates a standard size card.

 
I love how this card came together. Even though it's kind of a Z fold card, by adhering the 1" end down on the right side, one would think it's simply a standard card. Here it is opened:
 

Again keep it simple, nothing fancy. Adding the matte layer and white card stock to write your message on the inside adds stability to your card. It can stand nicely for a long time, where I think just using DSP would make it buckle/warp in no time. Here's the measurements you need to know to recreate the Z Fold card (DSP Card Base 2):

 
 
 Onto the last Fun Fold: Drapery Fold. Most cards made with this fold usually only uses DSP on the front panel not as the base.
 

 There's lots of scoring involved and you are adhering every 1/2" channel front and back but it is worth extra time. Here is a close up to the "drapery":

This one does NOT stand well though. Next time I create the Drapery Fold using DSP as the base, I will add a quarter (5 1/2" x 4 1/4") Window sheet to back of the front panel to add stability and the card should be able to stand then. I love seeing the fold and the DSP so by using a Window sheet, I'm not hiding any of it. Here are the measurements you need to know for the Drapery Fold (DSP Card Base 3):

Friday Inspiration: Thank You Customer cards

 Welcome back to my blog and thank you for stopping in today. I made this card on my Tuesday Night Live @7pm on Facebook in my Diane's Craft Space group. If you are not a member yet, please Like and Follow my fun group. I share many card ideas with you, some sales post (after all, I am an Independent Demonstrator with Stampin' Up! and that's how I get my craft toys), some tutorials, and some funny memes.


 This was my second ever Live broadcast. It went a lot better than my first video, I was super nervous (introvert here) and not technically savvy enough to know how to set my phone in landscape mode and not mirror/upside down video. So I'm quite proud, and I'll only get better from here.


Back to my card. I played along with a 3 different challenges:

1) CASEing The Catty is a Facebook  group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from Australia and New Zealand who love to create and CASE using the Stampin' Up! catalogues as inspiration. This week we are playing with Masks (stencils). I chose the Honeybee Home Bundle card from the January-June Mini catalgue on page 80 to CASE (Copy And Share Everything). #ctc360


 2) Global Design Project #334 is a sketch challenge and you all know how much I love playing with Sketches. It was a coincidence to almost be the same layout for my CASEing The Catty inspiration card. #GDP334


3) CAS Colours & Sketches #461 is a lovely colour combo of blues and yellow. They don't mention it specifically but these are Ukraine's national colours. That was my first thought anyway. Let's hold the Ukranians in our heart and prayers while they try to survive through this war time.

 

Here's a tip for you when stamping lined images that you will be colouring:


Normally when colouring with Stampin' Blends, you want to use Memento ink so that the colours don't "bleed", smear, or blur. But look at my samples using different inks. I think the Memento one to be the worse. I then tried the Crumb Cake, thinking no line stamping, but it just looked faded. Then I remembered reading somewhere that a dark gray isn't so black, yet still somewhat black. The article I read made it make sense, so I tried it. Not there's still some fading but it's a happy medium, in my opinion. Maybe if  I try the Basic Gray Archival ink (retired) next time, maybe that will have the perfect effect.

And to finish of the card set, because we never send a naked envelope, I just added more of the masked vines. Clean and Simple, Easy Peasy!
