Krafty Chicks Challenge #817: MASCULINE

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Welcome to another great challenge week from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. MASCULINE is the theme this week and good luck to you. I struggle with cards for men. I love flowers and frills so I tend to buy more feminine stamp sets and play with those. I'll have to dig deep for masculine stamp set and dust them off before playing. Here we go!

 #817 MASCULINE

I just love how this card came together. I'm playing along with this week's fun sketch at Inkspirational Challenge. I've altered it a bit by not adding four inline squares but using four staggered shapes.

My first idea was to use a older retired hot air balloon stamp set from Stampin' Up!, and found a fourth image from a different stamp company. My second idea was to make it monochromatic: Blue with gray clouds.

Products used:
  • Stamp Set: Lift Me Up, Hot 4 Balloons
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White, Blueberry Bushel
  • Ink Pads: VersaMark, Blueberry Bushel, Balmy Blue, Afternoon Azure, and Basic Gray
  • Accessories: Heat Tool, White Embossing Powder, Tinsel Gems, Stampin' Dimensionals

Don't forget to "decorate" the inside of the card and the envelope. Keep it clean and simple just by adding some coordinating stamped images, some DSP, or a little cardstock strip.

I was going though an box of older stamps that I had put in a garage sale a few years back and I found a wonderful balloon stamp set. Not sure why it's in the "For Sale" pile. I love each image and sentiment and it comes with coordinating dies. Rest assured, it's now on the KEEP shelf.

Products used:

  • Stamp Set: Celebrate Today
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White, Coastal Cabana
  • Ink Pads: Memento, Cherry Cobbler, Coastal Cabana, Crumb Cake
  • Accessories: Balloon Framelits, Stampin' Dimensionals

I kept the inside of the card simple with a balloon and a card stock strip. For the envelope, another balloon and the flag banners are stamped to coordinate with card.

 #809 MASCULINE

Taking a break from my high stack of old Paper Pumpkin kits and to play with old kits I have lying around. These kits are extras from previous classes I've hosted and extras for Facebook Lives, in case I goofed and needed to start over. They are not as big a stack as the PP but as I'm decluttering out my new craft space, they need to move along. Here are the pieces I'm working with and the original card.

Instead of staggering the DSP, I just created a rectangle background. Making it a simple design and still keeping the Octopus circle as the focal image. I also changed the orientation and used different dots.

 Products used:

  • Stamp Set: Robot Buddies Card Kit for the sentiment
  • Card Stock: Pool Party, Basic White
  • DSP: Maritime
  • Ink Pads: Night Of Navy
  • Accessories: Stitched Shapes dies,Toile Tidings dots, Stampin' Dimensionals

I like to keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple by just adding some DSP.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #800: MASCULINE

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

MERRY CHRISTMAS! Sorry I'm late with my post this week, it's been hectic around here. I'm sure it was for many of you as well. My family celebrated the holiday yesterday. We had an enjoyable, loud, busy, fun day, as always. I'll be honest, it's nice to have a quiet lonely day today.

Now, welcome to another great challenge from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. MASCULINE is the theme this week. Here we go!

 #800 MASCULINE

I ordered some new playthings as an early Christmas present to myself. I'm not a farm girl, a true city slicker here, but I wanted/needed more masculine stamp sets to get creative with. And since my little town is surrounded by farms and acreages, this stamp bundle will get enough use.

Products used:

  • Stamp Set: Tractor & Co
  • Card Stock: Pretty Peacock, Basic White
  • DSP: Plaid Tidings (retired)
  • Ink Pads: Memento, Garden Green
  • Accessories: Tractor & Co dies, Spotlight On Nature dies, Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (retired), Toile Tidings Glitter Enamel Dots (retired), Stampin' Dimensionals

I like to keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple by just adding some DSP.

 #796 MASCULINE

While cleaning up my craft space, I had to put away many stamp set on the shelf. I also took the time to reorganize my themes. Not sure why they get messed up... I'm the only one touching them and obviously NOT putting them back where they belong. That's when I found this deer. It's perfect for a masculine card and it's still hunting season for a little while yet in Alberta.

Products used:

  • Stamp Set: Nature's Beauty, Guy Greetings, Buffalo Check
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White, Garden Green
  • Ink Pads: Pecan Pie, Crumb Cake, Garden Green
  • Stampin' Write Markers: Basic Black
  • Accessories: Stitched Rectangle Dies (retired), Linen Thread, Streaked Dots, Blender Pen, Watercolor Pencils

I kept the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple by stamping a coordinating image and the buffalo check patter..

For this week's card, I played around with last month's Paper Pumpkin kit. I altered one of the designs, as I often do to get MORE out of the supplies. I also added a bit more colour to the corn stalks and pumpkins.

Products used:
  • Stamp Set: Fall For Toile, September 2025 Paper Pumpkin kit
  • Card Stock: Cajun Craze, Basic Beige
  • Ink Pads: Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry
  • Accessories: Embossing Folder (can't remember the name at the moment), Water Painter, sequins, Stampin Dimensionals

I like to keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple by just adding some DSP and a coordinating stamped image.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #787: MASCULINE

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

 #787 MASCULINE

As I was scrolling through TikTok, I watched an doodler, an artist really, create a beautiful background with colourful marker strokes. And I thought: I can do this too. My first attempt did NOT look anything as pretty. My strokes were uneven and wonky. Then I remembered that I might have a stencil that can do the trick. It's not quite like the original doodle but I didn't mind how it turned out.

The stencil is a Vicki Boutin (she's Canadian, from Ontario) design. I love her style! I ran my markers into each space in rainbow colour from Stampin' UP!'s Brights family. It was a little flat when I removed the stencil so I traced each stroke. Love that I wasn't exact, it added whimsy! I also created a border to anchor it.

I did more strokes on the inside of the card and the envelope to finish off the card set.
