Krafty Chicks Challenge #566 - Stamp Act

 Happy Canada Day! Hello July!

Living in Alberta right now, in this heat wave with no AC, means lots of time hanging out in the basement and a bit of crafty time for me. Temps at work have reached 45 degrees Celsius but I swear it's even hotter in front of those two pizza ovens. I love summer, I do, but not at these temps. Thankfully it should only last a week. And so bring on the beer!!!

Enough whining for today, let's cheer up this post with a pretty card for the Krafty Chicks Challenge that starts today. We are looking for a Stamp Act, which means stamp something on your project. It can be as little as a sentiment or as elaborate as a whole scene, you decide.

This card didn't turn out the way I saw it in my head but I am happy with it all the same. Honestly, less was more but I couldn't do it. My issues with white space is real, I'm working on it but it's slowly, very slowly developing. I created a watercolour wash on the background panel by stamping ink on my glass mat, you can use a silicone craft sheet too (127853). Then spray with water and "roll" a window sheet (or plastic from packaging) into the ink. Next step is to "kiss" the panel gently and roll the colour. You don't want too much water to saturate but you want enough that the ink will move around on your card stock, you can also use the Shimmery White card stock (101910) if you need a little more play time.

Supplies I used:

  •  Dragonfly Garden stamp set: 154411
  • Very Versailles stamp set: 149275
  • Thick Basic White card stock: 159229
  • Mango Melody card stock: 146989
  • Basic Black card stock: 121045
  • Mango Melody ink pad: 147093
  • Old Olive ink pad: 147090
  • Soft Suede ink pad: 147115
  • VersaMark ink pad: 102283
  • White Embossing Powder: 155554 ( from the Basic Embossing Powder bundle)
  • Heat Tool: 129053
  • Dragonflies Punch: 154240 (can be purchased as a bundle with the Dragonfly Garden set)
  • Dandy Garden 6x6 DSP: retired (punched the dragonfly out of DSP)
  • Stampin' Dimensionals: 104430

I even took the time to stamp the inside of the card as well as the envelope. This simple touch adds a lot of elegance to your card. Don't skip this step. Never a "naked" envelope.

Now it's your turn to get creative. Let's see what you're playing with in your craft space.
