Krafty Chicks Challenge #687: All Occasions

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Welcome to another great challenge from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. All Occasions is the theme this week, so pretty much anything goes. I needed a thank you card and I created this one before it SNOWED a couple of days ago. Yup in Alberta, Canada, it snows whenever it feels like it, no matter the season. Let's hold on to hope it'll melt soon with these sunflowers though.

Can you believe these sunflowers are a stencil?? Stampin' Up! calls them masks. There's four layers that line up perfectly to make gorgeous flowers. I used my Blending Brushes to add colour quickly to the panel then used my Stitched Rectangle dies to pop up the center panel and add dimension. If you want a bit more shading, try using a Sponge Dauber and going heavier with the colour near the center. Here's a close up:

I like to keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple. That was easily done with stencilling a sunflower to coordinate the set.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for All Occasions week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #686: CAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Are you ready for this week's challenge? On the third week of the month, I'm the hostess and we are looking for CAS. There's a wide interpretation to CAS (Clean And Simple), we say just have fun with it.

Now, here's my CAS Challenge card:

I followed along with TGIF's Sketch Challenge #442 which had a very CAS layout. I even took out one of the layers. I'm using the sentiment as the focal element but I use an embossed panel (swiped with an ink pad) in the background and some branches to accentuate.

Here's a close up. I used some dimensionals to pop it up on the card base.

No card is complete without finishing the inside with a bit of card stock this time. For the envelope, I embossed the flap and inked it up. Keep it simple!

Want some more inspiration?? Go check out the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog to see what the Design Team have created. Hope you play along and upload your project so that we can see what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #685: Christmas

Oh yeah, it's Thursday! Time for another great challenge from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. Let's put the spotlight on Christmas this week!

This week I'm following along with the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers sketch. I am using a retired stamp set and punch, I thought it coordinated well with the Merry Bold And Bright DSP.

Here's a close up of the Christmas lights, I popped them up on dimensionals.

To keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple, I added some DSPand stamped more bulbs. Quick and easy and done.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for Christmas week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #684: Stamp Act

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

It's the first week of October. That means it's the Stamp Act challenge with the Krafty Chicks. As long as something is stamped, be it an image (digi or rubber) or a sentiment, it qualifies for the Stamp Act challenge. Today we also introduce a new Guest Designer for the month. So let's welcome Laurel from Laurel Seabrook Designs with open arms and show her some love with comments on her blog. Here's my card:

I am loving the DSP in the background. Not sure what it is, maybe the contrast of the Wild Wheat on the Pretty Peacock. Looks almost golden!

Here's a close up of the sponging I did in the centre of the daisies to make it a different colour and stand out.

I kept the inside and the envelope CAS (Clean And Simple) by stamping a few daisies and leaves. It is that simple and doesn't take long to coordinate with the card.

Need more inspiration for the Stamp Act challenge, hop on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog to get the details. And upload your project so that we can see what's happening in your craft space.
