Krafty Chicks Challenge #819: BIRTHDAY

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

New month, new challenge starting today. Week one brings us a BIRTHDAY theme on the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. Create any paper craft with a birthday theme, male, female, kids, card, scrapbook or even home decor. We hope to see you in the gallery.

#819 BIRTHDAY

I almost sat out for this week's BIRTHDAY Challenge, running out of time. So here's what happened. I'm in my craft room, playing along with a couple of challenges. For the sketch, it's a Case The Designer theme from Stampin' Up! Only Challenge

Then I went looking for a colour challenge. I tried two different combos and both the cards were total flops (in my opinion). One was Highland Heather, Pumpkin Pie, Strawberry Slush, and Daffodil Delight. The other colour combo was Flirty Flamingo, Pumpkin Pie, and Lemon Lime Twist. I just couldn't make it work! So at 9:30 pm, Wednesday night, 2.5 hours before deadline, I give it another go, with two colours. Turns out so much better, I like this card!

Products used:
  • Stamp Set: With You In mind
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White, Pumpkin Pie
  • Ink Pads: VersaMark, Flirty Flamingo
  • Stampin' Write Markers: Melon Mambo
  • Accessories: Heat Tool, White Embossing Powder, Eyelet Blooms Die (Product Of The Month of April), Stampin' Dimensionals

No card is complete without finishing the inside of the card and the envelope. Keep it simple with a little card stock and coordinating image. I even die cut the envelope flap to coordinate.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for BIRTHDAY week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Love To Craft #92: ANYTHING GOES

Good day my Crafty friends! Happy Spring! I'm hoping if I say it enough times Mother Nature will get the memo and leave winter behind in Alberta. We are all SO READY!

It's time to play along with the Love To Craft Challenge Blog. It's a wonderful group of crafty people creating and motivating the viewers to participate in the easy Anything Goes challenge every other month. You have six weeks to make time in your craft space and play along. I can handle that! Can you??

Today, I’m playing along with the Just Add Ink Sketch #784. It's a fun and CAS layout.

Anyone who knows me, I shy away from the colour purple except when it comes to flowers. I haven't met a purple flower I don't love yet. And lilacs are one of my favourites, coming in close second after the African Violet. I can't wait till they are in bloom, for their beauty and the aroma. But for now I'll settle for stamping them.

I like to finish the card set with a matching inside and envelope. Keep it simple with just a little card stock and a coordinating image.

Hope you enjoyed my card today and that it motivates you to get creative. We all need a little me time, why not get crafty?? Upload your project for this week's Anything Goes theme on the LOVE TO CRAFT CHALLENGE BLOG.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #818: Anything Goes (ATG) with a TWIST

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Because April has a fifth Thursday, we have an ANYTHING GOES theme on the Krafty Chicks Challenge blog. One of the easiest challenges because you can have any theme you like. But this year, we've added a TWIST to our ATG challenges. In January we added an embossed element to our projects. This time, the TWIST is a COLOURED IMAGE. It can be a card, (fancy fold even), a treat package, home decor, or a scrapbook page. Literally ANYTHING GOES...with  COLOURING!

 #818 ANYTHING GOES

This time around I created an encouragement card using the Just Add Ink sketch #784 as inspiration. I did change the orientation. Although my focal elements did fit in portrait direction, I thought it looked better in landscape.

I also thought, in light of the recent snow storm in Alberta, rubber boots were a fitting image to colour. I'm even throwing in some spring vibes with the pretty flowers. Now let's hope Mother Nature catches my drift.

Products used

  • Stamp set: No Matter The Weather, Paper Pumpkin March 2020
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White, Soft Sea Foam, Highland Heather
  • Ink Pads: Memento
  • Stampin' Blends: Highland Heather, Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie
  • Accessories: purple sequins, Stitched Shape Circle dies, Stampin' Dimensionals

I like to keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple with just a coordinating stamped image.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for ANYTHING GOES week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #817: MASCULINE

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Welcome to another great challenge week from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. MASCULINE is the theme this week and good luck to you. I struggle with cards for men. I love flowers and frills so I tend to buy more feminine stamp sets and play with those. I'll have to dig deep for masculine stamp set and dust them off before playing. Here we go!

 #817 MASCULINE

I just love how this card came together. I'm playing along with this week's fun sketch at Inkspirational Challenge. I've altered it a bit by not adding four inline squares but using four staggered shapes.

My first idea was to use a older retired hot air balloon stamp set from Stampin' Up!, and found a fourth image from a different stamp company. My second idea was to make it monochromatic: Blue with gray clouds.

Products used:
  • Stamp Set: Lift Me Up, Hot 4 Balloons
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White, Blueberry Bushel
  • Ink Pads: VersaMark, Blueberry Bushel, Balmy Blue, Afternoon Azure, and Basic Gray
  • Accessories: Heat Tool, White Embossing Powder, Tinsel Gems, Stampin' Dimensionals

Don't forget to "decorate" the inside of the card and the envelope. Keep it clean and simple just by adding some coordinating stamped images, some DSP, or a little cardstock strip.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration from the Design Teamfor MASCULINE week . There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #816: CAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Are you ready for this week's challenge?? On the third week of the month, I'm the hostess and we are looking for CAS. I always have a difficult time with the true CAS design of lots of white space but I've come to realized after all this time that there's a wide interpretation to CAS (Clean And Simple). So just have fun with it.

#816 CAS

With all the hustle and bustle of the last two weeks, I created this card this morning, last minute and I think it turned out great. You'd never know it though. I found the inspiration from the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge.

I love this layout! I first thought flowers. It is spring after all! Or in Alberta trying to speed up spring. But thumbing through which stamp set I wanted to play with, the soccer one screamed "Pick Me"!

Products used:

  • Stamp Set: Match Day
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White
  • DSP: A Wonderful Match
  • Ink Pads: Memento
  • Stampin' Blends: Real Red, Basic Black, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, and Color Lifter
  • Accessories: Match Day dies, Stampin Dimensionals

No card is complete without finishing the inside with a coordinating image and a little DSP. Same goes for the envelope. Keep it simple!

The Creative Crafters #99

Good day my Crafty friends! I hope all is well and that you are creating some crafty time for yourself. I try to get creative at least 3 times a week. It helps that I'm on the Design Team (DT) to some fun and easy challenges. Today I'm showcasing my DT card for The Creative Crafters Challenge #99.

As always, we keep things simple and fun and our challenge is ANYTHING GOES. It doesn't even need to be a card, any paper project hand-made by you counts.

For this card I created an alternative design using components from the March 2026 Paper Pumpkin kit. I absolutely love the hummingbird die cuts. They are so regal and makes creating cards easy.

 Products used:
  • Stamp Set: Paper Pumpkin kit Fluttering Garden, March 2026
  • Card Stock: Mossy Meadow
  • Accessories: components from the March 2026 Paper Pumpkin kit including the card base, Stampin' Dimensionals

What do you think of the envelope?? It's a perfect match for our fluttering hummingbirds.

Hope you enjoyed my card today and that it motivates you to get creative. We all need a little me time, why not get crafty?? Upload your project for this week's Anything Goes theme on The Creative Crafters challenge.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #815: CHRISTMAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Time for another great challenge from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. Welcome to week 2 of our challenges and that's to use a CHRISTMAS or any holiday/winter theme on your project. I chose to put the spotlight on Christmas this week!

 #815 CHRISTMAS

I followed the Freshly Made Sketches challenge #730 for this card. This is one of my favourite layouts but with a little extra.

Here's a close up of the focal element:

Products used:
  • Stamp Set: From The North Pole, PP November 2022
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White, Real Red, Gold Sheet
  • DSP: Under The Mistletoe, Most Wonderful Time
  • Ink Pads: Early Espresso
  • Accessories: Stylish Shaped Dies, 2 1/2" Circle Punch, Gold Glitter Dots, Stampin' Dimensionals

To keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple, I added a little more DSP. Quick and easy and done.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for CHRISTMAS week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.
