Krafty Chicks Challenge #738: CHRISTMAS

Time for another great challenge from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog.

Welcome to week 2 of our challenges and that's to use a Christmas or any holiday/winter theme on your project. I chose to put the spotlight on Christmas this week!

I chose a very simple layout this week. I'm letting the DSP shine and the sentiment be bold. And with little pop of red to mix things up. You may recognize this as Layout 4 from the Stampin' Up! Inspiration templates on page 22 of the Annual Catalogue.

Products used:

  • Stamp Set: More Wishes (162324)
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White (159229), Real Red (102482), Evening Evergreen (retired)
  • DSP: Painted Christmas (retired)
  • Ink Pads: VersaMark (102283)
  • Stampin' Blends: Real Red (154899)
  • Accessories:Heat Tool (129053), White Emboss Powder (165679), Toile Tidings Glitter Dots (retired), Stampin Dimensionals (104430)

To keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple, I just added a strip of DSP. Quick and easy and done.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for Christmas week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge # 736: Stamps

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

It's the first week of a brand new month, which means it's our STAMP week challenge. As long as something is stamped on your project, (rubber, polymer or digi) (sentiment or image), it qualifies for the challenge.

For our stamp challenge this week, I created a fall-ish card. Hard to say the theme as the sentiment can mean so many things like Thank You, I Love You, or I'm Happy. Then I noticed that the only thing I stamped was the sentiment. It counts though!

I'm also playing along with the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. I just changed the orientation to fit my images.

Here's a close up:

Did you think think the sunflowers were stamped?? Nope, that's a stencil (or in Stampin' Up! world: a decorative mask). I then traced around the edges with a Micron pen as my Stampin' Up! black marker is dried up. I love the effect of the doodle outline.

Products used:
  • Stamp Set: Cheerful Daisies (1612390)
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White (159229), Early Espresso (119686), Cinnamon Cider (retired)
  • DSP: Flowers For Every Season (retired)
  • Ink Pads: Crushed Curry (147087), Early Espresso (147114), Pecan Pie (161665), Granny Apple Green (147095), VersaMark (102283)
  • Accessories: Abundant Beauty Decorative Mask (retired), Stitcjed Rectangle die (retired), Spotlight On Nature die (163580),Fern 3D Embossing Folder (158804), Heat Tool (129053), White Embossing Powder (165679),Gilded Gems (retired), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

I feel no card is complete without finishing the inside with a coordinating product, so a little DSP is added. Same goes for the envelope. Keep it simple.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #735: All Occasions

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Welcome to another great challenge week from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. Last week of the month is a fun one: All Occasions. Almost like Anything Goes but with a special event in mind. Let your creativity soar with this one.

I created this card kind of last minute. I thought I had a card in my Krafty Chicks tin that just needed to be photographed. I was wrong! I'm a big girl, I can admit it. So like many of us card makers, I have many beautiful cards saved in my Photo Library on my iPad. And I picked a card created by Laura Beacham (saved on December 1, 2023) as inspiration. Have a look HERE.

I'll be playing with this layout again. Laura's project was a Christmas card, I'll be giving it another go as we all know I have a hoard of Christmas DSP to use up. I am very proud of my colouring here. I've been learning a few tricks for shading and it's come in useful.

Products used:
  • Stamp Set: Playing In The Rain (160542)
  • Card Stock: Petal Pink (146985), Melon Mambo (115320), Basic White (159276)
  • Ink Pads:Memento (132708)
  • Stampin' Blends: Petal Pink 9154893), Pool Party (154894), Balmy Blue (154830), Daffodil Delight (154883), Pecan Pie (161674)
  • Accessories: Sunshine & Rainbows DSP (retired), Playing In The Rain dies (160550), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

I kept the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple as well by just adding some DSP and a few stamped clouds to coordinate.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for All Occasions week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #734: CAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Are you ready for this week's challenge?? On the third week of the month, I'm the hostess and we are looking for CAS. I always have a difficult time with the true CAS design of lots of white space but I've come to realized after all this time that there's a wide interpretation to CAS (Clean And Simple). So just have fun with it.

For the first time in a long time, I didn't struggle with this week's CAS SIP card. I knew what I wanted and just stamped it. I almost "ruined" the simple part by stamping the flower again, fussy cutting it and adding dimensionals to give the card a little popped up look. Keep it SIMPLE! In case you don't know what SIP stands for, it means Stamp, Ink Paper.

I love colouring with my Stampin' Blends any day of the week but I especially love the way this image turned out (except for the bit of bleeding).

Products used:
  • Stamp Set: Painted Petals from the July 2024 Paper Pumpkin kit
  • Card Stock: Thick White (159229), Highland Heather (146986)
  • Ink Pads: Memento (132708)
  • Stampin' Blends Combo Packs: Highland Heather (154887), Old Olive (154892), Pool Party (154894)
  • Accessories: none

No card is complete without finishing the inside with a coordinating image. Same goes for the envelope. Keep it simple right!

Want some more inspiration?? Go check out the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog to see what the Design Team have created. Hope you play along and upload your project so that we can see what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #733: CHRISTMAS

Time for another great challenge from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog.

Welcome to week 2 of our challenges and that's to use a Christmas or any holiday/winter theme on your project. I chose to put the spotlight on Christmas this week!

There's 15 more weeks till Christmas. Say what???!!! I haven't even started thinking about the actual holiday season yet this year. Sure I have some cards done, probably enough now to snail mail all my peeps (don't worry, I'll be making more), but I haven't really wrapped my brain around it. Normally, I'm just about done with the gift shopping or at least have an idea what I'll be buying. Better change gears soon!

For this card I am using the first inspiration Tag Template on page 16 of the September-December Mini Catalogue 2024 (we need to shorten this SDMC24, but I'd prefer to go back to Holiday Catalogue). I just put it on a card base.

Products I used:

  • Stamps: none
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White (159229), Basic White (159276), Garden Green (102584), Cherry Cobbler (119685)
  • Ink Pads: Cherry Cobbler (147083) used around the edges of the embossed panel
  • Accessories: Reindeer Day Memories & More Card Pack (164047), Joyful Sayings Ephemera Pack (164009), Linen Thread (104199), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)
  • Retired Items: gold thread, Cherry Cobbler ribbon, basics 3D embossing folder, gold glitter enamel dots

To keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple, I trimmed one of the 4"x6" cards to coordinate with the tag on my card. Even used up the scrap bits to fussy cut a few gifts for the envelope front. Quick and easy and done.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for Christmas week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #731: ATG (AnyThing Goes)

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

This week on the Krafty Chicks Challenge blog, it's Anything Goes week. One of the easiest challenges because you can have any theme you like. It can be a card, (fancy fold even), a treat package, home decor, or a scrapbook page. Literally Anything Goes in paper crafting!

I chose Birthday as my theme for this week's challenge. I used Layout 4 on page 22 of the Annual Catalogue and a few bits that were rejected from previous projects.

Card Hack: if you don't have the colour of twine/ribbon to coordinate with your project, use your Stampin' Blends for the right shade. White twine or ribbon are closest true colour but I've coloured light pinks and Soft Sea Foam and the shade is pretty close. Experiment on a small piece first. Be sure your twine/ribbon is dry before using on your project.

Products used

  • Stamp set: Beautiful Balloons (161450)
  • Card Stock:Berry Burst (144243), Basic White (159276)
  • DSP: Bright & Beautiful (161449)
  • Ink Pads: Blueberry Bushel (147138)
  • Stampin' Write Markers: Berry Burst (161681)
  • Accessories: Beautiful Balloons dies (161456), Bakers Twine (155475), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

I like to keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple with just a little DSP.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for All Occasions week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.
