Krafty Chicks Challenge #789: CHRISTMAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Time for another great challenge from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. Welcome to week 2 of our challenges and that's to use a CHRISTMAS or any holiday/winter theme on your project. I chose to put the spotlight on Christmas this week!

 #789 CHRISTMAS

I was playing with a One Sheet Wonder (OSW) pattern a few weeks ago. I featured the cards in my Facebook Group: Diane's Craft Space. As you know I embellish the inside and the envelopes for most of my cards. And now that I've switched to different envelopes (to keep the cost down), I had a bit of left over pieces that I just didn't want  to throw out. so I assemble the triangle bits to fit the background pattern. Almost zero waste!

 Products used:

  • Stamp Set: Nests of Christmas (Paper Pumpkin October 2024)
  • Card Stock: Thick Basic White, Cherry Cobbler
  • DSP: Elegant Pine Snowflakes
  • Ink Pads: Memento Black, Shaded Spruce, Cherry Cobbler, Pecan Pie
  • Stampin' Blends: Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie
  • Accessories: Stampin' Dimensionals

To keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple, I  added a little more DSP. Quick and easy and done.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for CHRISTMAS week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #788: BIRTHDAY

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Holy Moley! It's now October, which means fall or autumn. Where did the time go?? Week one has a BIRTHDAY theme on the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. Create any paper craft with a birthday theme, male, female, kids, card, scrapbook or even home decor. We hope to see you in the gallery. Now let's get started with the challenge.

#788 BIRTHDAY

I was just having fun in my craft space one evening, I even dug out my stencils. When I saw the honeycomb one, I knew I had to use it. I used some yellow and orange ink and added a touch of Cajun Craze for the shading. The bees I had left over from an older Paper Pumpkin kit. Just what the card needed to finish it off..

Here's a close up:

Products used are mostly Stampin' Up! such as card stock, ink and even the retired dots. Only the stencil and the die cut sentiment are off brand. Not even sure which company as I stored it out of it's packaging. I do know they are a few years old , so it's most likely unavailable for purchase.

No card is complete without finishing the inside of the card and the envelope. Keep it simple with a little more stencilling and a coordinating image.

Head on over to the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog for more details about the challenge and for more inspiration for BIRTHDAY week from the Design Team. There's even a place to upload your project at the end. I hope you play along with us and show us what's happening in your craft space.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #787: MASCULINE

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Welcome to another great challenge week from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. MASCULINE is the theme this week and good luck to you. I struggle with cards for men. I love flowers and frills so I tend to buy more feminine stamp sets and play with those. I'll have to dig deep for masculine stamp set and dust them off before playing. Here we go!

 #787 MASCULINE

As I was scrolling through TikTok, I watched an doodler, an artist really, create a beautiful background with colourful marker strokes. And I thought: I can do this too. My first attempt did NOT look anything as pretty. My strokes were uneven and wonky. Then I remembered that I might have a stencil that can do the trick. It's not quite like the original doodle but I didn't mind how it turned out.

The stencil is a Vicki Boutin (she's Canadian, from Ontario) design. I love her style! I ran my markers into each space in rainbow colour from Stampin' UP!'s Brights family. It was a little flat when I removed the stencil so I traced each stroke. Love that I wasn't exact, it added whimsy! I also created a border to anchor it.

I did more strokes on the inside of the card and the envelope to finish off the card set.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #786: CAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Are you ready for this week's challenge?? On the third week of the month, I'm the hostess and we are looking for CAS. I always have a difficult time with the true CAS design of lots of white space but I've come to realized after all this time that there's a wide interpretation to CAS (Clean And Simple). So just have fun with it.

#786 CAS

Over the weekend, my Paper Pumpkin kit was delivered but I didn't have time to play with it. Too busy playing and having fun with the grand kids. But I knew I'd have plenty of time to create on my days off (Tuesday and Wednesday).

This is my first alternative using the September Paper Pumpkin kit: Fall For Toile. It was hard to leave all that "white" space so I added the sequins and some Wink Of Stella on the pumpkins.

No card is complete without finishing the inside with a coordinating image. I used the envelope from the kit and just added some pumpkins. Keep it simple!

Krafty Chicks Challenge #785: CHRISTMAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Time for another great challenge from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. Welcome to week 2 of our challenges and that's to use a CHRISTMAS or any holiday/winter theme on your project. I chose to put the spotlight on Christmas this week!

 #785 CHRISTMAS

For this card, I used the card bases and envelopes that coordinated with the Beary Christmas Memories & More pack and DSP from the Suite. Even the polar bear is fussy cut from the DSP. Only thing stamped is the sentiment. So let's just say this was a quick and easy card!

To keep the inside of the card simple, I add a little strip of DSP. Quick and easy and done.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #783: MASCULINE

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Welcome to another great challenge week from the Krafty Chicks Challenge Blog. MASCULINE is the theme this week and good luck to you. I struggle with cards for men. I love flowers and frills so I tend to buy more feminine stamp sets and play with those. I'll have to dig deep for masculine stamp set and dust them off before playing. Here we go!

 #783 MASCULINE

So I was thinking about how I don't have much manly Designer Series Paper when I happen to look on my right and see the craft bins rack full of old (I mean really OLD) dsp. I soon found a suitable pack to play with. It's dated Fall 2008 and there's not much left of it but that's ok, it's meant to be used up and not forgotten. I found an old stamp set as well, dated back to 2011 at least (not sure if it's older, didn't want to get lost down the Google rabbit hole).

Products used:

  • Stamp Set: Countryside (retired)
  • Card Stock: Soft Sky (retired), Basic White (166780)
  • DSP: Muirfield (retired Fall 2028)
  • Ink Pads: Memento (132708), Balmy Blue (147105), Old Olive (147090)
  • Stampin' Blends: Old Olive (154892), Crumb Cake (154882), Afternoon Azure (161672), Balmy Blue (154830), Smoky Slate (154904), Lost Lagoon (161680)
  • Accessories: Saying Something Mix & Match Ephemera pack (163761), Tinsel Gems (retired), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

I like to keep the inside of the card and the envelope clean and simple by just adding some DSP.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #782: CAS

Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!

Are you ready for this week's challenge?? On the third week of the month, I'm the hostess and we are looking for CAS. I always have a difficult time with the true CAS design of lots of white space but I've come to realized after all this time that there's a wide interpretation to CAS (Clean And Simple). So just have fun with it.

#782 CAS

I took inspiration from this photo I found while scrolling on Facebook. The artist didn't leave their WaterMark so I can't give them proper credit.

Are seagulls truly the new rage?? I'm seeing them everywhere. What attract my eye to the card was the bold yellow card base and the pop of red. Also the fact that it's CAS worthy. As I didn't have any seagulls to play with, I used another bird: the wise owl.

Products used:

  • Stamp Set: Adorable Owls (retired)
  • Card Stock: Crushed Curry, Basic White
  • Ink Pads: Memento
  • Stampin' Blends: Smokey Slate, Pecan Pie, Gray Granite, Crumb Cake, Real Red
  • Stampin' Write Markers: Crushed Curry, Basic Black
  • Accessories:Wonderful Gems (retired), Stampin' Dimensionals

No card is complete without finishing the inside with a coordinating image. Same goes for the envelope. Keep it simple!
