Happy Krafty Chicks Thursday to you!
Welcome June, I'm so glad to see you. Summer is just around the corner, we can feel it during the day. We've still have some frosty mornings though so I'm holding off on some garden plants like green bean, tomatoes and cucumbers. But pretty much everything else is in, just waiting for them to sprout out and say hello.
Onto my card for this week's Krafty Chicks Challenge : Stamp Act. As long as something is stamped, be it an image or a sentiment, it qualifies for the Stamp Act challenge.
I'm late again this week posting and I apologize. I haven't been posting on Facebook much either. With the opening of another pizzeria (we don't own it but we have been helping out a lot), the travel time to and fro, I just need a couple of days to catch my breath.
You may not recognize this stamp set. It was a Hostess set for the last Sale-A-Bration event, tucked away in the back of the flyer, called Calming Camellia. I got it kind of last minute of the sale so it wasn't even inked up yet. I decided on a watercolour look and did a wash in the background.
To create the background, I stamped my ink pad on my glass mat. You can use a silicone mat or even a window sheet. Then spritzed it with a bit of water. I took another bit of window sheet and rolled the center while holding the edges up in the ink, then rolled it softly, slightly dragging across the panel. I learned this technique from Vicki Boutin, a very talented Canadian artist. Look her up on YouTube and Facebook. Then I second-generation stamped my image in Crumb Cake. Second-generation stamping is just inking up your image, stamping off on a scrap paper then stamping again where you want it. I stamped on the panel and on another piece of Basic White card stock. Finally I got to watercolouring the image, letting it dry a bit and adding a bit more colour for shading. Last steps are to fussy cut, add dimensionals and stamp the sentiment.

I tried the background wash technique on the inside of the card but wasn't very happy with it. It turned out a little too dark for my liking and you can barely see my stamped image. You will never get the same results and you never know what the outcome is until you do it. So I am just rolling with it this time but didn't try it on the envelope.
